How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Needs better sound proofing. Karaoke till midnight, drunks till 3am,and leaf blowers at 6am. Not conducive to being rested enough to trade at a convention. The price. I know it's darling harbour but faaaark
Location was excellent for proximity to the ICC. It was the ONLY place in that kind of vicinity to sleep 3 for less than $1,500 The shower was genuinely great Refrigerant based aircon was delightful given Sydney's humidity

Pillows were a little thin but easily fixed by bringing your own pillow

The road noise at night can be annoying and the toilet cistern dripped constantly. We played white noise and kept the bathroom door closed at night and all was fine

So close to getting accommodation right. Just a few small details and it could be perfect - power cords hanging from the TV, chipped tile, mold on shower curtain. Karaoke nights might be louder for some but it doesn’t bother me. Even with these things I still always choose to stay here when in town for business as it’s so handy and staff are great.
Great location, friendly staff and comfortable bed. 24 hr convenience store across the road. Food and drinks downstairs are well priced and yummy.

Wifi was great in the pub, but in the room I may have been too far from router for it to work properly. Could be a little noisy on weekends/game nights, but its expected staying in a pub Inn is all about. Not loud enough to keep me away
Great room in the back of pub, awesome staff/service. shower had great pressure. Great local, walking distance to water taxi/downtown/chinatown. Would stay here again.

More powerful, effective, air-conditioning unit in room
The only thing that brings the score down on this charming little old world. Hotel, with very friendly and helpful. Staff, is the fact that the air conditioning units are not good enough. The room was very hot. Other than this, we will continue to stay here on every trip to Sydney. Thanks to Tim who was very helpful. Colleen

Could use a microwave in the room and better set up of the toaster and kettle, they should have a power board so they are permanently hooked up to power so they do not need to be moved to be operated.

The only thing I would comment on (and you are probably aware of dodgy PowerPoint in the bathroom).
Great to be able to have a quick on both mornings and access to tea and coffee. The hotel is in such great location and so easy to access Light Rail, Darling Harbour and beyond.

no staff available on checkout at 10am. We needed them as optus was shut down. We could hear people inside but when we tried to get their attention we got no response. We were fortunate as a delivery person arrived and he seemed to get their attention. Based on delivery persons comments the staff reluctantly ordered a taxi for us. Most disappointing from that view. If you have guest you need to look after them. Had a subsequent booking and have since cancelled and booked somewhere else simply because of this

Bit smoky smelling but guests not complying by the rules plus pub vibe so understand.
Relatively easy check in and check out. Included bathroom was a treat. The check-in person did a good job of explaining everything concisely regarding access and policies. Great location- close to everything. Tea coffee and bread/ breakfast self serve station looked awesome. Cosy accommodation overall.

The taps in the shower and bathroom sink in our room were very hard to turn off to stop drips which made it very difficult to turn back on. The sliding door was off the runner on the floor and was very heavy so difficult to open and close. Although it didn't bother us, the traffic noise during the night was pretty loud.
The staff were fabulous and very helpful. The Thai food was excellent. It was very relaxed. Loved the breakfast table accessible to all rooms. The location to Chinatown, Darling Harbour , World Square and the Fish Markets was great.
