Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCarpet in room needs to be cleaned but overall the rest of the room was very clean. Also not much room in the bathroom an extra shelf would help.
Great breakfast, lovely choices of & plenty of beautiful fresh fruit. Cooked breakfast excellent & great gluten free options including delicious pancakes. Staff were excellent & friendly. Lots of covid cleaning in the breakfast room between guests which was reassuring. Nice touch to be offered freshly baked scones as we left.

AustraliaI would say for the price you're paying - and the size and quality of the room you get - it's overpriced. The room was very small indeed. We only had a small window so we had to keep it open the whole time so it didn't feel claustrophobic. We did like it for lots of other reasons but probably would get more for our money next time. Or spend less and get more. One thing I wasn't happy about is that the place is advertised as having a spa and gym but when we asked when we got there, it says it doesn't have one. We booked because of those facilities.
The breakfast at Basildene Manor is amazing!! The view in the breakfast room along with the music, ambiance etc was the perfect way to start the day. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. They are very accommodating. We also appreciated that they catered for dairy and gluten free. Lots of alternative choices. The grounds around the Manor are clean and peaceful. The service was also great - the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. A great location - 2 minutes from the town centre but in a quiet location.

AustraliaWe stayed for 3 nights in November. Can't express enough the exceptional staff, their helpfulness, kindness and superb customer service. The building was amazing, full of history and pictures telling the story of the family that built and lived here. Breakfast was outstanding and again nothing was too much trouble. The gardens which are overlooked in the conservatory are very tranquil and well maintained which also houses the outdoor heated pool, tennis courts and BBQ area. The rooms are well maintained and suited our needs with tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge with complimentary water, a safe and iron. We were on the ground floor and had a court yard garden. In the evening the fireplaces are put on in the reading rooms where you can relax with a coffee

AustraliaThat not all facilities were open to use, breakfast was great, but more options would have been better. I think the price you pay, more breakfast options would be nicer. They do have a wine cellar, it would be nice to see them offering wine tastings. Also maybe offer a dinner option at a cost. What is available in town wasn’t a very broad range for us. Rooms were a little small for the price.
It was a beautiful property, the staff were so welcoming and wonderful. Always so polite and helpful. We did love our stay and I would certainly come back and stay. It was very beautiful

AustraliaStaff were very friendly and helpful, our check in time is originally 3 pm, we had a wine tour booked for 12:30 pm, we asked them if we could leave our stuff and car in there while we're on tour - our requests were accommodated and they even processed our check in early so when we came back we just picked up the keys and went straight into our room. The place is very close to the centre of town about 3 minute drive which is very convenient. The manor was built in 1912 and it has some interesting history in it, the building is well-maintained and is ageing gracefully! Everything is perfect, from the gardens, the lounges, the room, dining hall - didn't see any flaw at all! We went during winter and the two lounges downstairs have fireplaces which were very cozy. We stayed at a room called Malbec which has two windows overlooking the gardens, the room itself is fantastic, it has a minimalist yet fabulous vibe. The bathroom is small but it's a very minor thing. Breakfast is included in the package, they have a good selection and the dining hall has a great ambiance with glass walls overlooking the gardens. It is definitely one of the best and would absolutely go back! Upon check out, they gave us some scones as thanks - it was a very nice touch! Thank you Basildene Manor for a memorable stay!

United KingdomIt’s not a hotel (which wasn’t a surprise tbf), so don’t expect a bar etc. It’s more like a very plush guest house. So it’s not what we didn’t like, more what was lacking. It therefore felt pretty expensive for what is effectively a comfortable room.

AustraliaThe standard room was nicely decorated but so tiny!! It opened to a lovely little private courtyard which would be greatly appreciated in warmer weather. But the size of the room was disappointing, with not even space for a chair and the lack of room made it hard for two people to dress, pack, etc. Bathroom was also tiny with just enough room for one person - and nowhere to put your grooming bits and bobs. It was very expensive for a room of this size especially considering it was out of season
the setting was lovely but not a bit far out of town to grab a meal, etc.
