Comfortable, affordable accommodation on GKI. Particularly liked thoughtful inclusions such as hooks and sufficient towel railings in our room. We did several of the island’s walks and loved the picturesque beaches with beautiful, clear water.

Some additional lighting at night on the walking path to the rooms could be a good addition. Location of the A/C in the room means it blows directly onto the bed which I didn't mind but my family did.

Near Yeppoon so easy to reach by ferry. Turquoise water was amazing and so were the beaches and the parts of the coral reefs. Really enjoyed the overall vibe and restaurant. So laid back and just 90min from home. The rooms were basic but very practical and we traveled with a 9 day old baby giving her, her first tropical island experience.

I have mobility issues, there seemed to be a lack of information on accessibility (or lack there of). However, I understand part of the charm is the rustic feel so I’m not suggesting pathways to everything but maybe an extra step is needed in a few places for us less mobile people. I saw a few older people struggling in a few places and even had to help another lady make it up a sandy incline just to be able to reach the railing to pull herself up to the main exit point. If you have limited mobility I would ring them and discuss it with them as I did see them drive someone on crutches from the beach to the restaurant but realistically it’s not set up for anyone with mobility issues.

Would have liked the room to have been cleaned. The toilet was dirty with faeces left in it. Cobwebs top of curtains, which could have been dusted off. One thing to note is garden rooms, walls are paper thin so if u have inconsiderate neighbours......

The facilities are very run down…..the food is average at best. Happy Hour was good( cocktails were iced up way too much!)…..however there needs to be a better vibe with music playing etc

The location….GKI is beautiful. The Kiwi solo entertainer was absolutely AWESOME!!! What a voice!!!

The accommodation is very easy. We did not expect much more. It was clean and had air con and a fan. The island is just great.

food was pretty bad. needs a good chef and well trained staff. I was told a lot of staff are ‘volunteer’ as in they are not paid a proper salary which seems exploitative to me. They should be paid. It was odd that weekend surcharges, presumably to account for higher wages were applied when staff were not actually being paid.

We were given our room key only to find that someone else was in our place . They were given our duplicate key and were already settled in . I think if that had not had happened we may have had a better stay. As the room we were given ended up being in a noisier location . We were there for5 nights and every night we had some kind of problem with our next store neighbours . Which isn’t the fault of the resort .. but just unfortunate about the room key mistake . Denise at the front desk reception was very nice and gave us a couple of nice extra’s for our misfortune.

The water in the island is really salty (in the taps and shower, I'm not saying the drinking water). I know is something common in Islands, but I found it more salty than other places. Sometimes, after shower, it looked like I just came out of the ocean 😂 it was not a great issue, but it worths to mention as some people may be bothered by it.

We booked a cabin for 4 people (but we could fit 6 in there). It was fully equiped, there was even a bbq in the yard. It was a short distance from the beach. Lots of animals to see around the hotel area (echidnas, kookaburras, lizards..) The island is really beautiful. The price is really good for a GBR island.

There was no full length mirror in the room but literally that is the most negative thing I can find to say. There was a comfy bed, soft cosy blankets (which tbh I was tempted to steal), fresh towels and real milk in the fridge for cups of tea.

The bed is super comfy, the facilities have pretty much everything you need. The hot water shower after a day at the beach was blissful. We stayed in budget accommodation on a last minute deal but it was perfect for a beach stay.

Unfortunately the property and accomodations are pretty dated and urgently need some renovations and up-dates. It's all quite basic. I don't mind basic generally, but this was pretty basic.

The location of Great Keppel Island Hideaway is stunning. Cannot be topped!

The lack of facilities in rainy weather

The location is as expected, beautiful! That the accommodation handles the luggage to & from the ferry transfer. That the food was not expensive.
