Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIn room WiFi was down during my stay. Cellular reception capped at 3G. Food choices are limited. Even with many Asian tourists, there was no practical Asian food on island. Lunch and dinner menu have limited choices.
Good location, snorkeling opportunities are great. Quiet island after daily tourists left. Morning snorkeling is great and almost a private island experience before ferries bring in day visitors.

AustraliaThe resort itself was rather tired looking. For the price we paid we were a little disappointed when we first arrived as it looks quite rundown from the outside. The room itself was really nice on the inside. It is situated in amongst the trees so it aways looks really dark and gloomy outside despite it being warm and extremely sunny on the beachfront (don't sleep in 'cause the weather looks bad - it most likely isn't). There always seemed to be rain around midday. We were there in June so this may not be the case year-round.
The island itself is stunning and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. There were so many amazing fish to snorkel amongst right by the beach which meant you could get away with not doing a tour if you were pressed for time (the tour was absolutely amazing so if you do have time I would recommend adding that to your itinerary). One thing I would recommend for everyone to do is the cultural tour of the island. Our guide Blake was extremely knowledgable and taught us so much about the island, as well as the mainland, explained the traditional uses of the plants, explained the history of the reef's formation, and went above and beyond to tailor the experience to our needs. This was definitely a highlight of our entire trip and we are so grateful for the experience and for Blake's enthusiasm.

AustraliaDay tourists/trippers over ran the place during the day and made any beach activities unpleasant. The common room needs renovating Emerald restaurant was over priced. The breakfast buffet was situated in a freezing cold room. No room service.

United KingdomOnce the day-trippers go home at 4.30 pm the island is very quiet with only the restaurant open, therefore after 8pm there is no bar or other services available.
Beautiful location with well appointed rooms. The atmosphere of the island in the evening is magical. I highly recommend a twilight walk in the rain forest. The food in the restaurant was very good and staff very friendly.

NorwaySome of the reception staff were a little surly or curt with guests when they asked questions - and not everything was entirely clear at checkin (i.e. breakfast time, how to book boat trips etc). The people in front of me asked the same questions a few times to get the answers they needed. Internet was really patchy, didn't work in room most of the time, had to physically sit outside reception with laptop. It could also be good to explain to guests that they shouldn't harass or feed the birds (even if 'its only kids'). Kids running and chasing the poor panicked ground birds at breakfast is not very relaxing.
Great location on the reef - perfect for snorkelling, diving and relaxing. Room was great, with a lovely shower (there was a bathtub but I didn't use it), fridge (clean and not smelly), fans, air-conditioner and wardrobe with coat hangers. Bathtub also had a hanging space for wet clothes/swimmers over it (retractable clothes line). Breakfast buffet was significant, with fresh fruits, cereal, eggs, breads etc. Restaurant for dinner has a very nice menu - book a table for early sitting to avoid waiting when main bulk of guests arrive (there is only one place open for dinner so everyone eats there unless you get something from the pool kiosks and bar before they shut in the late afternoon before the boat back to the mainland leaves). Staying guests could access pool (there is a private resort pool, not just the public one), glass bottomed boat tour, museum several times with one ticket during stay (includes the crocodile sanctuary), free beach chairs (otherwise you need to pay). Staying at the island means you get it pretty much to yourself before and after day trippers arrive - beach sunrises, sharks, turtles, manta rays and lots of lovely coral. Very nice birdwatching (at breakfast get a table overlooking the pool to see the sunbirds diving between the trees).

BelgiumBeautiful location and great experience: a secluded forested island with a nice beach surrounding the island During the day most of the island except the resort sleeping facilities are visited by guests coming from the mainland, but at night and in the morning the resort guests have the island fully to themselves. So perfect opportunity to walk around the island and the beaches all by yourself, which is a wonderful sensation especially when you're living in a busy city. Snorkeling equipment and beach chairs are included with your resort stay, and the snorkeling around the island and on the outer reef tour departing also from the island made us instantly fall in love with snorkeling and checking out the beautiful reefs surrounding the island. While part of the resort is a bit outdated, we very much enjoyed the spacious and clean rooms, and had a nice diner at the resort.

AustraliaFood quality has deteriorated since our last visit 12 months ago when the chef was excellent. This time; not enough variety. Serves are too large and they lacked finesse. Wait staff were attentive but not trained to a fully professional standard. Food/dining overall 6/10.
Our room was terrific. Spacious, slightly old fashioned, very clean. Reception and all other staff were friendly and very helpful. Snorkelling beside the pier near the buoyancy raft is very good - lots of fish and coral. A 10 minute boat trip to the Green Island fringe reef revealed fantastic coral gardens and myriad fish. It’s a superior snorkelling experience than the trip to the outer reef (Moore reef).

AustraliaThe lack of lunch variety, birds in the dining area swooping on tables for food, bird poo everywhere. The lack of facilities if weather inclement eg no indoor or outdoor games. No resort-type daily news of activities. No real separation between hundreds of day-trippers coming for lunch and resort guests, with long lines and canceled food options.

AustraliaEmerald restaurant had nice food however limited options particularly being vegetarian. More fresh local produce would be ideal. Table cloths and dressing on the tables for dinner should be a standard and also salt and pepper in sachets is bistro standard.
Seclusion after the day tourists left. The wildlife. The accommodation felt like a tree house. The proximity to the reef.

AustraliaThe resort is tired and bits are run down, such as parts of the decking around the resort were rotten or well worn. The resort was under resourced. Dining was a shambles at lunchtime especially with day trippers around; eg waited an hour for a burnt pizza. I realise there are challenges in these covid times but at $850 a night, it’s not value for money.
The location is great and the rooms were in good condition and clean. A number of the staff on the island were also awesome.

AustraliaLimited option for lunch, hard when your diet is limited. Not being able to use kayaks for early morning trips was disappointing as it meant we didn't use them as the middle of the day was too hot. Would be nice to have more private options from daytrippers when it comes to amenities.
Room was lovely and spacious. The island is beautiful having access to loungers on the beach and a guest only pool is great too.

NetherlandsThis resort claims to be eco-friendly and yet there’s hundreds of day trippers every single day on the island, there’s no monitoring of where they go snorkelling so they could very well be damaging the corals, the kiosks during the day give you your food in disposable plates with disposable cutlery, the breakfast is a buffet with plenty of disposable plastic being used despite them claiming to be plastic free, they desalinate the salt water and then return toxic brine into the ocean, they feed the fish every day & the fish have become dependent on this, there’s some captive crocs on the island which live in deplorable conditions ; basically they don’t care about the wildlife, the environment, the reefs or the aboriginals who once used the island for their initiation ceremonies: everything is done to make money & to please the tourists. To top that it’s also incredibly expensive and the food is terrible. Most of the food is either frozen or just tastes terrible, the vegan options were awful , I was served some salad leaves with some gone off hummus & 4 halves of frozen falafel for 30AUD
The island itself is beautiful (once all the day trippers have left) and most of the staff & marine biologists were really friendly. I also enjoyed the cultural walk with Blake & Jayden from Black Seahorse gift shop.
