How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

I assumed the smaller bathroom was an ensuite and it wasn’t - that’s on me for assuming based on the pictures. A floor plan would be helpful for future guests to avoid making the same mistake.
Really well located and easy to get to the places we were heading. Very thoughtfully appointed in the kitchen, which I appreciated, and the checkout process was relatively simple.

The water heater was a bit noisy, but no big deal as it was at the back of the house anyway.
The house was absolutely beautiful and had everything and more. The location was amazing too, great view, close to cafes and shops.

This is a beautiful home in a fantastic location. The owners are super friendly and accommodating with a seamless arrival process. The sunrise was spectacular from the top floor and gives you the most amazing start to the day 🙂 We loved Hamptons at the Bay and hope to get back there again.

Hamptons on The Bay was everything that we could have asked for, location was great walking distance to cafes and the Broadwater. Debbie was very informative on what was in the area and l have to say that the house and the gardens are very well maintained. Would diffidently stay there again.

This was just a beautiful place for our family to stay in while attending a family wedding nearby. The property is amazing - so clean, comfortable and with everything we needed for a great stay. The host was wonderful, friendly, welcoming and informative. It was the perfect stay.

Nothing that we didn't like.
We liked the location it was close to where we were going for Christmas day. There are shops nearby. The house was very clean and the beds are comfy too. The area was quiet, we can see the water but we cannot go for a swim though. We enjoyed our stay.

The sofa in the main lounge is dirty and stained and the throw blankets stunk but other then that everything was perfect!

No issues at all, the property met our expectations and was comfortable and well presented.
Excellent quiet location across from the water, close to everything we were looking for. Debbie was very helpful and ensured that everything was ready for us on arrival and that we had everything we needed. House is well presented and has everything for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

If your a light sleeper, just a note that noise travels in the house and you can hear everything but other than that the house was awesome!
Beautiful home, it had everything we needed and more! Spacious and clean.. they have thought of all your needs while staying at the property!

we have just had the most exceptional stay at this property. from the first point of contact with the divine and accomodating owner, to the day we left, this has been our favourite holiday home. the property is SO clean and well kept, it was spacious and I felt that everything we could want was there. The location was incredible, right on Deception Bay with a coastal walk on the doorstep and a beautiful cafe a short stroll away. We are already blocking out dates for next year to revisit. I highly HIGHLY recommend Hamptons at The Bay.

Everything was absolutely perfect, the only tiny thing was there was no body wash or soap in the showers. Other than that it was amazing!
This place was absolutely beautiful in every way, beds were so comfy, close to the water, a perfect little holiday house!

I do not intend this to be a criticism as we were very happy with the presentation of all the kitchen, showers and bath and toilets on both floors and what appears to be very recently update furniture fittings in all locations and outside BBQ dining area but I found the dining room chairs too low and could use re-cushioning. Whilst it has no bearing on our stay I noted a growing patch of water damage on the eaves adjacent to the incoming power lines that a stitch in time may save an expense. Anyone considering booking should be made aware of the 17 rung stairway leading to the bedrooms may be of some difficulty but as an 84 year old I had no difficulty in getting to bed.
meals were not included in the package but a well stocked arrival kit was awaiting us.
