It was unfortunate that the main hotel wasn't open for meals or drinks over the Christmas break.....but most likely this is due to the post covid staffing issues.

Fantastic location in an historic hotel. Beautiful room and very clean, well appointed shared bathroom facilities. Loved that they haven't tried to modernise the room too much given it's circa 1890's or so, but it has everything you need for a short stay.

Shared bathrooms n toilets which is a distance to walk down the alley, especially in a cold dark night😅. However the shared bathrooms are as pretty as the rooms, with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing shower.

The hotel is so pretty! Right in centre of a picturesque town. Quiet at night. King sized comfy beds.

It was quite noisy in the room. Recommend turning off the mini-fridge overnight. We slept better the second night without the intermittent whirring.

Great location, very clean, well priced, nice coffee for the morning. The hotel itself is old fashioned and beautiful, and the beer garden attached to the restaurant is fab.

The hotel does not have staff after hours. Called at 9:30pm upon landing in Melbourne but no answer. Check in hours stated 3pm-10pm. We arrived at the hotel around 11pm and there was not a single person in sight nor was any self-check in instructions provided. After some panic, we were fortunate that Sanctuary House Resort Motel was able to accommodate us with such short notice and so late at night. The staff was nice when I called the following morning explaining our situation from the night before, we were able to check in to our room and we were refunded for the first night. To avoid this experience, ensure you do communicate with the accommodation well in advance if there is a chance you might arrive late. Would have liked a bit more follow up from staff as well.

Old timey hotel rooms on top of a pub but clean and well maintained. Location on the main street, easy stroll shops/cafes. The room was spacious, beds big and comfortable. Note: there are about 7 rooms but two shared bathrooms - we did have a small sink/mirror in our room (wish there was a full mirror in the room though).

Usually one of my favourite places to stay when I travel to Victoria, however this most recent stay was disappointing. No staff on site, restaurant closed and a group of loud, rowdy men were running up and down the halls and making a lot of noise til late. As a solo female traveler I was very uncomfortable.

The bedroom was spotless with excellent coffee/tea. The toiletries are always beautiful and I love that they are sourced locally. Excellent location.

We didn't expect the toilets to be shared by all the occupants of the hotel. But there was enough toilets and baths such that there was no queue, and it was spotless and super nicely furbished such that we were more than happy with them. It got really dark and spooky at night. The decorations were old and traditional, and some of the paintings at night gave us some chills.

Location was fabulous. Rooms and toilets were clean and bed was comfortable.

The bathroom is shared and on the other side of the corridor. somehow I missed it and didn’t expect such thing. Personally wouldn’t choose the place with shared bathroom, though the bathroom as such is super pretty and big. Also couldn’t use facilities as they don’t operate on Monday-Tuesday, which were my days of the stay. couldn’t get tips where to start my trip to explore the valley, only the map

Never met one member of staff throughout stay. Other than process of check in over the phone, very little about the hotel facilities etc explained. Met elderly guest who knocked on door during the night who was worried about an alarm. She too was disconcerted by lack of staff presence or guidance.
