How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Toilet plumbing needs attention, continually runs.
Backyard parking was excellent. Met the host, very friendly. Plenty of room to spread out in the dining room. The bed was not too firm.

Effective Evaporative Air Conditioning, but its loud as you have to keep the bedroom doors and windows open to use it. Good location, Big well-appointed rooms, Extra outdoor toilet was a bonus.

It was very dark inside, possibly as I suffer with macular degeneration it appeared more to me. By the time we left got used to the levels as you walk from the front to the back of the house. The fact that the best fruit was on the top of the tree and couldn’t reach it!

Could have been a bit cleaner. The kitchen needs a good deep clean. All aspects of the kitchen need cleaning. I’m a clean freak, maybe take time to clean house from top to bottom.

As a blogger, internet access is important. I overcame the lack by hot spotting on my mobile phone which had surplus data rolled over from previous months.
It's always a privilege to have the run of a cottage instead of a motel stay. Being able to catch up the laundry after more than a week on the road was an added bonus.

The house was a little cold, although electric blankets were on the beds and and blow heaters were throughout the house, and a little gas heater in the sitting room, so it wasn't too bad, and I was never cold in bed. Many rooms have a step from one to the other - not a problem for us, but maybe not great if you are unsteady on your feet. Toilet did occasionally make an odd noise at random invervals...
Loved the off-street parking, the quiet area (sleeping was no problem), the electric blankets, the equipment available in the kitchen, the cleanliness. Heather was also very kind and communication was excellent. Loved having an affordable house in Broken Hill, with everything we needed for our stay.

From my partners point of view who has difficulty on steps a grap handle on the wall between the lounge and the step down to the dining room would have an added bonus.
I found the cottage very quaint and liked the high ceilings which kept the property cool while I was out and about.

A couple of maintenance issues need dealing with, but nothing that couldn't be worked around.

Only issue was the heating in the dining room. The heater there didn't work and the other small heater wasn't adequate for the space. The heater in the front room was good though.
Bedrooms were very comfortable with electric blankets. House was very clean.

really close to the town centre, shops, pubs etc. We were here for Broken Heel Festival so perfect location. property had everything you need to cook your own meals, backyard with BBQ and tv in bedroom.

The shower stall continually leaked which made bathroom floor wet and dangerouss. location perfect Bedding and beds super comfy.heating great, house needs a little tlc but that added to the adventure.
