Can't really fault our stay. The only helpful comment i can make is that there were bindi's (doube gees) throughout the grounds and inside in the carpet , just a note as my dog stepped in 4 inside within 5 mins of us arriving. I realise that can happen in a rural setting, but perhaps a sign for customers to check their shoes prior to entering the house would be helpful :)

Pet friendly aspect was great, cleanliness, had everything we needed. Highly recommend for those with dogs, she had her own completely secure fenced yard area outside and I felt relieved knowing that she could be outside without going out on to the property "common" grounds.

The lightings is a bit dark. So maybe have some options for bright lights installed together with the soft lights to brighten the room. As we are aged people who can't see well in dim light. A washing machine provided would be nice also.

Quietness and the location is easy to get to anywhere. Supermarket is nearby, 10 mins drive away. Eateries are nearby too where the supermarket is located. The host, Joy, was so nice, friendly & helpful.

The location is good, not far from town. The view from the property was awesome and the house felt homely. We were greeted by the owner and she made us feel very welcomed. We would absolutely stay there again.

Everything. Joy was an OUTSTANDING host and the property was equally outstanding.

Little ants kept coming into kitchen and bathroom, couldn't keep them out.

Accomodation was a beautiful, clean and spacious cottage. Host was very friendly and easy to communicate with. Loved the location, it is surrounded by a beautiful garden and only a short drive to town centre. Very peaceful and quiet.

Set amidst the picturesque countryside near York, the ambiance exudes a serene colonial charm. Our host, Joy, extended warm hospitality and delighted us with a sumptuous breakfast.

Absolutely loved the old world feel lots of artefacts and old pictures from the 1920s our bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in

Lots of double g's for the puppy feet

Great houses, we have a massive family so finding places that can take so many is tricky. Dogs are part of that...they come too.

It was very very very dry. They need to water the plants around the chalets, and maintain the gardens at least (some pruning as the bushes are over grown)

Loved the chalet, loved walking around looking at the old farm equipment, loved the room with games, owner was fabulous.

The location is excellent, the property is set in peaceful surroundings and attractive countryside.

Our stay at the Stables was perfect- comfortable, quiet and best of all fenced which was ideal for our dog who accompanied us. Loads of interesting areas to walk and explore. Accommodation was lovely - small kitchenette with microwave, toaster,kettle, dishes for 2 and a BBQ. (BYO oil for cooking). Lovely shower with amazing water pressure and a spa. Complimentary soap, bath oil and shampoo. Breakfast was included in our package and it was a real highlight of our stay - served elegantly with very generous portions and choices - we felt very spoilt indeed! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hillside Country Retreat.
