Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaService at reception on checking in on Friday afternoon was poor. The reception staff were abrupt and unwelcoming . This contrasts to the staff in the wintergarden restaurant at dinner on Friday night who were excellent
I was running in the UTA trail race so I had to leave before breakfast was served . My husband had breakfast which he said was average. Location was great Obviously road works outside were a detractor

AustraliaA few things I would change - It would be great if they offered room service, as I am very lazy :) - I would have eaten at the restaurant again the second night if there was a better range of mains, although the food is very good I wish there were a couple more options (or at least a couple of rotating options an evening). -I wanted a cup of tea before dinner, at about 4.30 so I tried to order that at the reception/bar area. They told me they didn't serve tea until later so I had to go all the way to other end of the hotel to the Pavillion to get one. I don't understand why you can't get it from the bar all day when the machine is right there. -I wish there was a spa or something on premises, there is not that much to actually do at the hotel other than eat and you can only really eat according to their set times. Obviously there is lots to do in the area but sometimes I just want to enjoy the hotel.
My room was very lovely. It was a decent size with an incredible view of the valley. The bathroom was really gorgeous with maybe the best view from the toilet I have ever seen. It was also very quiet. It was nice and warm and the bed was cosy. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night. It was delicious and well cooked. I had the steak and my partner had the duck. Staff were very attentive and friendly and the winter garden is just a really beautiful place to eat! We also had the buffet breakfast which was way better than I expected. The eggs were cooked nicely (soft and custardy) and not the usual dry as a bone type you get from a buffet! The selection was great and we were super stuffed to go out on an adventure. It was well worth the money. On our last day we had the high tea, this was also delicious with friendly staff. We got a window seat and I could have sat there all day just looking out at the valley. It's so beautiful. I thought the whole place, although old (which personally I find very charming) is well maintained and clean. All the public areas are gorgeous. Wifi was really good. Bathroom amenities are nice, towels quite big. Wish it had bathrobes though!

AustraliaThere were many cowwebs in the windows and glass panels for the view in the lobby area. As a luxury hotel good if so much sow webs are not seen by the guests. Why no piano playing in the weekends? Vey disappointing to see a grand piano with no one playing.
We love the old charm this hotel was decorated. The hot chocolate and cake for the day was so yummy. Good breakfast and dinner in the wintergarden restaurant was classy with the super sunset views

AustraliaGiven their reputation was just underwhelmed with my stay overall. The staff (apart from during dinner) were not very attentive and was difficult to get any service in the cocktail bar at all. Dinner was nice but again expected more from a hatted restaurant. The TV in the room was mounted on the wall beside the bed making it impossible to lie in bed and watch. Experience overall wasnt any better or different from any of the other (cheaper) hotels I've stayed at close by in the area.
The building was beautiful and view amazing. Rooms were comfortable.

AustraliaI was very disappointed in the size of the rooms, given the price per night. Limited space in the room for an additional suitcase - there was a luggage stand for one. While the bed was comfortable, the pillows were like - one is not enough and two is two many. The breakfast buffet was $39 per person, which didn't particularly suit us as we are not big breakfast eaters. It would be nice if the cafe on site provided an additional option for those who would prefer to order off a menu.
I have always wanted to stay at the Hydro Majestic and finally got the chance while doing a road trip around New South Wales. I was very impressed with the renovations that have been done to the common spaces throughout the building. The bed was very comfortable and the toiletries were very good. The view of the valley from our room was beautiful.

AustraliaThe carpet could have done with a vacuum and the exhaust fan in the bathroom sounded like a 747 on take off. I am sure they will fix that.
It's a beautiful hotel and we have been past it 2 or 3 times every going to Bathurst but never stayed. Stopped once for a coffee and was intrigued by its history. Glad we finally stayed but check in staff don't make you feel warm and fuzzy. Having to drag your bag up 3 lots of stairs was a bit ordinary. Ok for me but I am sure some people would struggle with that. It reminded me of the titanic segregated by class. Quite an experience but one we have wanted to do.

AustraliaNo room service Restaurant and food service closes at 8/8:30pm Valley View Rooms very small for the amount you paid. Exterior of the Hotel looks tired however inside was great. I met a couple who spent their 40 Wedding Anniversary there and the specifically asked for a View room with Breakfast included but were told in checking in they didn’t have there room. Staff didn’t help them or upgrade them. Also met another couple with a similar issue.
The View of the Mountains were amazing. The Staff were very friendly and helpful but some were not up to what happens within the Hotel.
