Property is brilliant - everything you want in there, plus other extras like decent soap/shower gel, laundry facilities. Owners left cereals in cupboards, fridge had items like mayo in it, as well as milk and coffee pods/tea bags. Hosts are excellent - friendly and helpful. Property is located just off the main Cooktown street, only a short walk to it. Plenty of space in the property as well as 2 showers and toilets. Plenty of information on the house/local activities etc and torches/umbrellas if you needed them. I have no hesitation in recommending the property and would always stay there if/when we return to Cooktown.

We liked the extras that we found on our arrival, like freshly baked bread, strawberries and hot drink selection. Very nice toiletries in the bathrooms and good laundry facilities.

Parhaps some type of hand rail on one side of the stairs up to the house through the garden would help we older 70+ year olds!

A great little house as neat as a pin!! Clean, tidy and every single thing you could possibly need on hand! Close to the town - eat in, buy in or eat out! On the spot decisions with guaranted variety and quality. You may need to realise Coocktown is not quite as big as Sydney or Melboure, so the choices are a little more limited - but it is a much better place to be and this property makes it even better! Thank you!

We all loved the home that was comfortable and felt like home as soon as we walked in the door. There was some welcoming treats in the fridge, a beautiful fresh baked loaf of bread. Hosts were so welcoming and easy to communicate with. The best place we have stayed in in Cooktown.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike

Ella has thought of everything to make this gorgeous house as comfortable as possible. We lacked for nothing and the level of detail in the amenities supplied was the best. The lovely touch of freshly baked bread and breakfast supplies was so appreciated and unexpected. The home is even better than the photos; the ambience simply was the best!

Brilliant location, great vista, roomy and comfortable cottage home, with loads of household items. Treats on arrival, very special. Easy Walking distance to town. The hospitality from super friendly Ella and John, excellent, they went out of their way to be helpful and provide great information for us tourists to the town.

Owners were in contact to ensure our needs were met. Location was excellent, easy walk to main centre. The pantry was stocked with plenty of breakfast choices for the length of our stay as was the fridge. Welcome chocolates and home made bread too. The bathrooms had shampoos, toiletries and additional supplies of toothbrush, razors if required. Great kitchen and laundry supplies. Very comfortable lounge, living area and beds. Outside table on the deck with views of Endeavour River.

We really enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to anyone thinking about going up to Cooktown. J and Ella's little touches made it a most comfortable stay and hopefully we'll be back one day soon.

We stayed at J & Ella's with our friends, who were holidaying from overseas. The communication with our hosts prior, during and after our visit was exceptional. From the time we stepped into this cute little establishment, we felt at home. The hosts have put a lot of thought into making this Homestay very comfortable for visitors. There were supplies in the fridge and cupboards, which we weren't expecting, with a little treat of fresh figs in the fridge ... delicious thank you. There was "everything" you needed in the kitchen and laundry. There was a full complement of lovely bathroom products, and extra thought has been put into other personal items such as bath robes, etc in the bedrooms. We were all very impressed and would definitely stay again if we were to visit Cooktown again. Thank you so much John & Ella.

Very cosy house, instantly felt like home. Bed super comfy, best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time. Excellent location House had everything we needed plus more. I definitely recommend this house & we will return next time we come to Cooktown (if available that is 👍🏼)
