How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

WiFi code didn't work. Tried the two options but no luck. Not a major issue as I had my own internet access but they may want to check the passwords given.

Exceptional hosts Kathy and Harvey made my stay a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience. Friendly and genuinely lovely people they went above and beyond what I expected and me me feel incredibly welcome in their beautiful house.

The TV wasn't working while I was there but my hosts invited me to use their one if I wanted to watch anything. And the wifi was excellent anyway, so I was able to stream services.
My hosts could not have been friendlier or more inviting. I felt very welcome in their home. The room was clean and comfortable, and I was welcome to use the facilities in the main kitchen. There's a lovely deck to enjoy breakfast in the morning or a cup of tea.

Kathy and Harvey are the perfect hosts to make you feel welcome and at home. I loved the attention to detail in the room- fresh flowers on the bedside tables and fresh rosemary on the towels. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the views were spectacular. A beautiful little holiday destination

The room was in an excellent location within walking distance to the beach and numerous eating establishments. The hosts are very friendly, extremely helpful and respectful. The room is very comfortable with everything you need and an excellent ensuite. The view from the back deck is amazing.

Everything exceeds my expectation. :)
Absolutely the best for 5-stars. The balcony with a magnificent ocean view. The property is within walking distance to local restaurants and beach. Kathy & Harvey, are the warmest host I have ever meet. I enjoyed the conversation with them very much.

A beautiful bedroom with personal ensuite, immaculately presented. A short walk to the railway station was my decision for booking here. Breakfast on the deck with the sun coming up over the ocean is something I will always remember. Hosts Kathy and Harvey were very welcoming and friendly. The location is just a short stroll to cafes and coffee shops near the jetty, with a supermarket in the same precinct. Just the nicest B n B I have ever booked.

We couldn't fault our stay.
The hosts Kathy and Harvey could not have been more welcoming or delightful. They treated us like family! The room was excellent and very comfortable. We don't usually like staying "inside" someone's home like this but it was a wonderful experience. Our hosts were rarely home and we were invited to treat the home like our own. The view from the deck was amazing (including seeing whales splashing about) and the one sunrise we got (due to rainy weather) was very special. The location was fantastic being able to walk down to the harbour including visiting Mutton Bird Island twice and all the cafes/restaurants just down the road. When our Qantas flight was cancelled we were warmly welcomed back to stay again.

Kathy and Harvey were kind, welcoming and generous hosts who went the extra mile to make my stay a happy one. The house has stunning views over Coffs Harbour and the guest room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, with sweet extra touches like fresh flowers and chocolates. Thank you for a lovely stay!
