How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Air con didn’t work very well at first, but staff were exceptional and came to review/assist.
Very nice little room, friendly staff, pub below serves nice food, with an Ethiopian restaurant next door. We tried both and were impressed. Room is comfortable with everything you could want and was very clean. Walking distance to the beach and the memorial walk.

No lift to the accommodation, just stairs.
It was big, nicely decorated, very comfortable. Couldn’t hear the pub downstairs unless you have a window open. We were able to get our meals delivered to out room. Staff was so friendly, helped & happy.

You could see the toilet from the bed. Bathroom door didn’t close but was see-through anyway.

Great location to Bar Beach. The rooms felt newly renovated with a nice modern style. Beds were comfy. Nice little extras like free bottles of water, chocolates and breakfast voucher. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back. 1 night was not long enough. 😀

Only issue was the abundant glass in the bathroom. Especially the see through doors.
Great location, bonus having a restaraunt and bar on site. Food was excellent.

The room was naturally very dark and made it hard to apply makeup. Also only one bedside table in the room.

There are stairs to get to your room on the first floor but not too bad.
Restaurant served a delicious meal and great wines. On site car park - small but always a space available.Convenient location...flat walk to beaches and lots of restaurants including the hotel. Bar serves cocktails.

Curtains on the windows would've been nice for a little sleep in but honestly that's all I can pick on! They do have attached blinds that close, so the light is easily controllable 😋
Absolutely incredible service, Tony was so welcoming and also the cleaning staff, they let us check out the other empty rooms and gave us extra items and chocolates! 😄 Amazing value for money, especially with such beautiful service. The bar/restaurant underneath serves all day and the food is beyond incredible. The chef definitely knows his stuff 👌🏻 Breakfast was included with our booking and the views and walk around the hotel were so lovely. 20 minute walk to the closest beach~ Thank you to everyone working there, you've really outdone yourselves, especially since you don't take yourselves seriously and have a good time working!! If we're ever in Newcastle again, The Junction Hotel will be the place to stay 😁
