Property was unique, set out on 3 levels with 2 bedrooms on the lower level with a bathroom and the other bedroom set on the 3rd level with an ensuite and small deck. Driveway was very step and because the house is set on three levels those with mobility issues may have a problem.

Property was an older house but with a lovely backdrop of trees/bush.

A perfect place for someone without mobility issues. Unfortunately I struggled being on a walking stick with the stone steps leading from bottom of driveway to house entrance.

The house was amazing super high ceilings, four levels, huge back deck complete with BBQ + Large square table and chairs. A well equipped kitchen nothing to take only food and clothes. There was a selection of yummy cheeses in fridge, ice cubes ready for our drinks,chocolates, fancy coffee and tea greeted us on arrival.

we had a cold snap so perhaps a couple of throw rugs in the lounge would be good as all the warm air disappeared into the kitchen. Also needed oven mits.

The property was amazing, I loved the terrace. It was an amazing area to relax with family in the evening. We travelled with our little puppy and he enjoyed the stay as well.

Our stay at Kookaburra Retreat was amazing! The owner had fantastic communication from the moment we booked, until the end of our stay and to say she was extremely generous would be an understatement! The house really had everything to make our stay comfortable, it was fresh, clean and very homely. My husband & I, our two young boys and our dog enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely return should we decide to visit the Port Stephens area in future.

Very steep driveway not suitable for anyone with mobility issues

the steep drive and flights of stairs ,bearing in mind 3 of us in our late 70’s and on in their 80’s ,so it’s one thing to be cautious of .

I loved it ,very quirky ,beds very comfortable and our host was very generous in what she left us in goodies .

The house was extremely clean and tidy including bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was fully equipped including those little extras such as tea, coffee, sugar and Tim Tams. The house is in a good location in Nelson Bay located in a quiet suburban street and only 5 minutes by car to the town centre which had a Woolworths, many cafes and restaurants.

The house was really well laid out with very comfortable rooms. The host left little treats for us in the kitchen which was really lovely. The outside deck and BBQ area is really beautiful.

We loved our stay at Kookaburra Retreat! The house is in a really convenient yet quiet location. Everything you could need is provided along with special treats including chocolates and a cheese platter. The private deck is great for an afternoon or evening drink and listening to the wildlife too. Our host was very welcoming and friendly, and helpful when we had a question about our stay.

The property is well furnished and the kitchen is well equipped. Nice terrace with a bbq to enjoy the outdoor dinners. The house is in a very nice area surrounded by trees and just few minutes by car to the beaches and the Marina. Excellent host; Alexandra is very responsive, helpful and polite. She made us feel very welcome leaving some milk, cookies, tea bags and cheese on our arrival.

House was clean, comfortable and had all the needed amenities. Kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable. The owner left us lovely snacks as well which was a great bonus.

This was our 2nd stay at Kookaburra Retreat. We came back because we loved it so much the first time. The lovely quiet location, the house and the host are all fabulous. Very easy and lovely place to holiday.

Some of the doors needed a bit of attention and it would have been nice to have had a fly screen door on the lounge room sliding door. This would have allowed us to have it open in the evenings without the bugs coming in.

Although we didn’t receive the text about the code, our host immediately answered the phone on our arrival and was able to give us the code and we had no further problems after that. It was helpful to have two sets of keys.
