How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

This is tongue in cheek, but the bar snacks were far to tempting lol However they were reasonably priced so I don't feel as guilty haha
The La costa is a beautiful motel which would have to be an icon of great times past. It has character and history that I hope is preserved. The staff are both very friendly and so helpful, I felt extremely privileged with how attentive and willing everyone was to help and make the stay enjoyable. The blending of today and yesteryear means there is a slight compromise but the facilities and services are excellent. Wish I had taken photos

Can be a little noisy with guests coming and going, including audible neighbouring airconditioners and exhaust fans, guests talking outside.
Retro beach vibe 3 minutes from the surf and sand. A 15-minute walk to the Gold Coast airport terminal, Close to bus stops for travel north to Tugun, Currumbin, and Burleigh Heads or south to Kirra, Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. Vintage bikes, a continental breakfast, and beach baskets included in the tariff.

There was nothing we didn't like except that we had to catch an early flight.....
Very clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee and nice breakfast basket. Fridge was fully stocked with drinks, chocolates etc and prices very reasonable. Close to both airport and beach. Will definitely recommend.

The noise from the room above us at night.
location was perfect. The little touches like the beach bag with towels etc. The folder of information was very helpful. Loved reading about the history of the motel. Very clean room.

Other people parking in a really tight spot behind our car, making it difficult to pack and move our car out when we left!
Really cute ‘beachy’ rooms, that were a delight to stay in. Very close to the beach, & walking distance to local surf club!

The listing says private parking available. This was actually a key reason for us choosing this accommodation. The parking is street parking only, in a 4 hour area. Having said that we always got a park but having to make sure we got back to move our car after 4 hours was a bit restrictive. At first we were upset to find the listing was deceptive but it all worked out well and we loved our stay and would stay again.
The entire site was beautifully clean and well kept, quaint and absolutely comfortable. A short walk to the beach, a longer walk if you want to swim or buy food but absolutely doable. The free bikes makes the distance much shorter. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful 1 day holiday.

needed to be quiet as rooms not very sound proof. in room safe would have been nice.

Delightful, cosy motel in a perfect location for easy access to beach or airport. Ideal for an overnight stay before a flight. Included breakfast, microwave, crockery & cutlery and a well stocked mini-bar of snacks, drinks & light meals added to the appeal.
