Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaGive the price we paid and the standard of the Lodge and our cottage we were disappointed with the breakfast that was included. They appeared under-staffed, so things kept running out, the bacon and scrambled eggs in the bain marie were cold. There were no gluten-free cereals or breads, only cold milk and no dairy-free butters or milks, out. However, alternative milks were available in the 'cafe' and were provided on request, although no signage indicated this. All in all, we would have preferred to have paid less and had our own breakfast in our rooms, but this wasn't an option when we booked.
It was fabulous to stay in the national park and have easy access to the lake, walking tracks and the information centre, where the staff and displays provided loads of interesting and helpful information. Our loft style cottage was gorgeous and the information centre had loads of great information. On the afternoon we arrived we did a short walk to the platypus pool and managed to see lots of glimpses or platypus as they same in circles creating circular ripples.

AustraliaFor what we were paying for the night, I found the cabin decor to be a little tired and the hot water system was not working. By the time our 3rd and 4th members of our group were to have a shower the water was cold.
Location was excellent, and great to be able to start a walk around the lake from nearly out our front door.

AustraliaIt was quite expensive but I assume that is due to location and sparse nature of accommodation available.
The wilderness location was superb. The lodge room was spacious and the bedding was very comfortable and warm. The toiletries provided were also first class.

AustraliaPark fees are not included in the price, this wasn't clearly communicated at all. At $44.75 per car, per 24hrs, this is a considerable amount on top of the accommodation cost.
The setting is gorgeous. Check out at 11am was much appreciated. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Included breakfast was very good. Toiletries were fantastic. Love the bathrobe and slippers. Lovely walks around the lake. Staff were very friendly.

AustraliaNothing to do around the accomodation - very isolated! Got diahhrea from eating at the Derwent Bridge Hotel - the only restaurant for 88km one way and 96km the other. Take food with you, no supermarket or general store.

New ZealandGreat to be staying within the national park and close to the walks. Food was very good - breakfast was included which was very handy given there is nothing around. Bring some snacks for walks and after walks - there is a small fridge in the room. Nearest mini-grocery store is 45min-1hr away.

United KingdomThe kitchenette is not equipped for self catering at all, just a fridge and a sink, no hob, no plates or cutlery. I don’t really think you can describe it as a kitchenette. Having paid for a lake view chalet it’s a bit of a shame that you have to park your car right in front of the lovely window, so you end up with a view of your car and then the lake.
Gorgeous lake view chalet, very comfortable and clean. Short walk to the visitor centre and right on the path for lakeside walks.

United StatesStaff was very friendly and nice but did not seem to have much knowledge about anything...It seemed as though they were just hired and told to go to work. They did not appear to have been trained well at all. . Management needs to do a better job at staff training, pure and simple, Teach them a little about the place and it's surroundings so that they can actually answer questions and not say I don't know and you should go across the way and ask park staff who then tells you to go and ask at the desk.
The actual cabin was great, restaurant was adequate. I think you could have had some more provisions on hand for hikers to buy.

AustraliaAfter such a fantastic meal the night before, breakfast was a BIG disappointment - the quality of food was no where near that of the evening meal, and there was no fresh fruit.
The Welcome from Hussein was fantastic as was his attention and service during dinner, which was excellent. There is nothing more that he could have done to make our stay the best.

AustraliaNothing to dislike.
Great bushland setting next to Lake St Clair - excellent facilities which met all our basic needs; had a delightful evening meal in the Lodge's restaurant which was a short 5 minute walk from our cabin. Staff were friendly and there was an abundance of wildlife. Be sure to take a torch for your night-time excursions. The complex includes a very good Information Centre.
