How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Kitchen not well resourced for cooking and gas bottles were empty. They got replaced the day before we left. Kathy was great about supplying us with a hot plate and other things we asked for so we could cook some meals. But for the price I felt the things supplied were minimal. Several neighbours complained about us parking the hire cars in front of their property. We had 2 cars. We had to park across the road or down the street. Spots in front of the house were always taken. But we were a large group, and as stated in positives, we were comfy, house was very clean, and Kathy a good host.
Very clean and comfortable. Host very responsive. Good location as base to explore Daintree and Atherton Tablelands. Good size for us travelling with our 4 grown up kids.

It's a little too pricey, but since we had to book last minute and required a pet friendly place, we paid for our need. The front gate wasn't locking, and we found it opened a couple of times after arriving back to the accommodation.
Spacious place. Well equipped. Good space outside for pets.

Hard to find parking hence received a nasty letter from neighbour stuck to our windscreen.
Great location to Cairns CBD. Very clean and tidy. Owner is very friendly and helpful.

NB it is on a busyish street, but very quiet and nice neighbours.
A lot of room, a great host, Kathy met us at the house and told us how to use things. The place had a lot of space and all the things you need for travelling with a big family.

the staff can be more flexible the knocked the door at 10:45 ready to come inside for cleaning check out was 11 we went out at 11:10 !

Nothing it was excellent
The house was immaculate. It was spacious and very comfortable. Our host was very friendly and happy to help with anything. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we could possibly need to accommodate our family group. We will definately book this house again when we come back up. I highly recommend this place.

Location is not too far from central area but a little too far for us (with smaller kids) to walk comfortably (given heat and humidity) meaning we had to get a taxi most places. We only had a hire car for two of the five days and really missed the car when needing to get in groceries and go out the central area. If we'd been further out we'd have had a car the whole time.
Great house - loved that our large group could all be together but have different bedrooms. Good offstreet parking for the couple of days we had a car. Great central living area so we could hang out together.

The tenant upstairs was inconsiderate in the middle of the night, having a conversation which we could all hear. Told her to ’shut up’ but she deliberately kept on banging the floor. She was the only negative aspect of this stay.
The location was easy to find and walk to from town. Facilities were ample, spacious (for a group of 7) and very clean. Owner was super friendly and accomodating.

There’s nothing I didn’t like I enjoyed everything.

The spaciousness! Clean and comfortable. A bedroom for everyone and 2 bathrooms - perfect for our family of 6. Really appreciated the call from the host to make sure we were settling in well.

Perfect for our large family get together. All the 5 bedrooms were spacious,air conditioned and nicely furnished and decorated. Kitchen was well equipped and stocked. It was spotlessly clean. The owner was easily contactable, friendly and helpful Highly recommend and we would love to stay again.

This place is amazing, it's so big and really nice inside. Hands down the best value place in town. 5 rooms, 4 double beds and 1 single for $300ish a night. We'll be back

Didn't understand that the property was set up as numbered rooms on two levels and we had the bottom level only, not the whole house. We had plenty of space just unintentionally entered the wrong level. Very angry and aggressive neighbour who literally yelled at us for nothing that we had done.
