Restaurant meal was well below par as were staff !! we have been going here for years praising the quality and friendliness needless to say this time we were very disappointed and there should be no excuses !

We neglected to check if there was a lift, and of course there wasn't as it is an old heritage listed hotel. So with a heavy bag it was a bit of a struggle up the stairs. There are other rooms on ground level but we had booked the last room available at the time. Next time we'll pack lighter :-) I'd still prefer to book the heritage listed rooms over the ground floor. The standard small bar fridge, no cutlery, plates or bowls limits your plans if you are a 'bring you're own cereal' traveller.

They have a great bistro & restaurant on the ground floor. We ate at the bistro 2 nights and enjoyed room service 2 nights. Food on all occasions was great quality and the service was great too. The rooms have very high ceilings and the bathroom had been renovated some time back in keeping with the heritage listed design. The ocean view from our first floor room was from a an easy access verandah, that wraps around the side and front of the building. Sunsets were lovely and the pier walk was just across the road. We took the train to the city most days which was a 5 min walk from the hotel and about 30mins to the city. A very efficient service ran on time, every 30 minutes going in and more often on the way from the city. There is also a lovely cafe around the corner for breakfast and lunch, and a bottle shop at the rear of the hotel.

The room layout was a bit weird, had to squeeze between the wall and the end of the bed to go to the bathroom.

Great convenient location, free parking, spacious rooms, tastefully furnished, comfy bed. Mini fridge and tea/coffee facilities were handy, and the bar stays open late!

I filled out the questionnaire and asked the management to have the staff clean the ceiling of the room. There was little cocoons, webby looking things scattered around the room. If these were removed it would have completed the picture. Its not hard to get a broom or cobweb broom and go around the ceiling. Our daughter visited briefly for lunch and also stated "whats that on the ceiling". She thought I hope the rest is clean. Her words not ours.

Meals were excellent, location was excellent, staff were friendly and accommodating, rooms were a nice size towels were lovely and shower supplies handy. We didnt have breakfast at the Hotel.

This is an older property and as such the room we were given had a bathroom door that did not want to close properly & windows with thin panes that did little to block outside noise and rattled a lot with passing traffic.

Convenient location to train station to access to city and walks to beaches. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.

I would have liked to have been notified along with booking that there was a wedding that night and the loud music went on till late. We only knew this as we started to see wedding guests arrive and a function room with a note on the door saying private function. A little heads up may have even changed our minds at staying for this particular trip as we were saying good bye to a loved one who recently passed.

We love the area. It's across from the beach so nice nightly walks. Beautiful sunsets. Close to where we needed to be.
