How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

What a spectacularly positioned unit overlooking the water right in the hub of Scarness. The bed is so comfortable, the unit so bright, clean, and well appointed. The hosts have thought of everything - it even has a selection of cling wrap, alfoil, baking paper and dear little googie egg cup holders bringing back sweet memories of childhood. The sign on the wall next to the entrance says it all "This is our happy place". Thank you. We are so blessed and grateful for staying here. 🙏😀

Nothing really. We request an upstairs apartment and are well aware of the steps. Hosts were very generous in offers to help with luggage, but we were fine. Our stay this time was nowhere long enough!
Location is excellent and is why we are return visitors. We sit on the balcony and look at the sea views while enjoying our coffee or wine. Very short walk to hotel and great meals. Short drive along the esplanade with stops along the way for browsing at local stores. Major shopping centre not far away and new complex with Harris Scarfe and Spotlight just opened. Cafe 63 there a bonus.

It was all ok. Maybe some more plates would be good but I may have just not opened all the cupboards.
Really lovely inside the unit, we were out all day and it was delightful to fall into the very comfy bed in the evening. Quiet overnight and lovely to be on the Esplanade to enjoy my morning run. The property is close to everything you need, groceries, take away, ice cream.

The owners Steve and Sharon are beautiful friendly souls. The apartment was clean and well stocked with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The apartment is well situated to cafe's, shops and restaurants. With the beach just across the road. We will return.

The drive way is a little narrow and can be hard to turn right out of. There were little ants but I think that a coastal thing so we just brought fly spray and it was fine.
It was very nice, beds were really comfortable and the location was great for us

There is only one air condition unit for the whole apartment and the bedroom the further to the unit remains a little hot.
The location is excellent. The building is very old however the apartments have been tastefully refurbished and are very comfortable.

Would have loved a pool BUT there isn't the space for it plus with the beach across the road and a water park close by, it didn't make a difference to our stay at all.
The location was amazing. It was so central to all that we needed. A stone's throw away from the beach, short walk to parks and a foodworks. Only a 5 minute drive to a shopping centre. The hosts were so lovely. We'll be back for sure!

Close to beach, fishing jetty, shops and restaurants. It was neat and tidy with all we needed for a comfortable stay. Owners provided great customer service, friendly and good communication on the lead up to our arrival.

There was nothing to fault about this property.
Apartment was absolutely lovely with the best views of the beautiful Scarness beach. We loved every minute of our stay, the staff were lovely, polite and so very helpful. Great value for money. Apartment was beautifully presented with everything you need to ensure a very pleasant stay.
