How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The room renovations need finishing but due to the heritage of the building this might be of issue. Tea and coffee were provided in the room but in a very haphazard way.... little details could be attended to I guess.
The property is a heritage building so has character. Kevin, the proprietor is engaging and cheerful. And the bed was very comfortable!

Only deficiency was a lack of a drinking glass in the room.
An older style hotel but still comfortable and about 3km from CBD of Hobart. Bed very comfortable and windows that can be opened to let fresh air into rooms unlike sealed rooms in more modern hotels. Host Kevin cooks an excellent breakfast of bacon, eggs and fried tomatoes plus toast jam and coffee to follow.

My only complain was that there was no drinking glass provided in the room.
This is an older style hotel with shared bathrooms and toilets. The beds are very clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and obliging. That said the staff leave at 5PM and leave keys in a safe place for guests arriving later.

Was slightly hard to find as the sign was a bit hidden under ivy. Drove past the first time.
Room good size and bed comfortable. Included breakfast was great. The host was really nice.

The location is good - there was no traffic noise and also the facilities were good. The rooms were cosy and beds very comfy What made our stay so special was how friendly Kevin was. He made us feel very welcome and cooked lovely breakfasts each morning. We felt very looked after and would recommend this stay to others very highly

Bathrooms were not clean. Room was clean but dusty.
Kevin was very accommodating with checkin and payment as we arrived very late. He also gave us some great coffees first thing in the morning before our sunrise hike!

the shared shower might need a bit cleaning. also our room ( no 6, double room) did not have aircon in a 37c day ( but it’s not the host’s fault. I don’t think it Hobart normally gets that hot). still overall value for money.
great location, and friendly host, cooked big breakfast for everyone.

The house is located at Macquarie Street which is always very busy. Unfortunately, the windows are quite old and don't isolate against noise at all. So my room (facing the street) was very noisy with only a short break in the traffic between 1 and 4.30 am. But there are also rooms at the back, which should be OK concerning the noise. The shared bathroom was next to the room, shower and toilet. There was a hairdryer and toiletries for free use, which was very nice. But it wasn't very clean. Especially the toilet.
Kevin was a very nice host and easy to reach. We got a good breakfast every morning and very good coffee. The room was a decent size and had a comfy bed. The location is ok when it comes to the distance to the city or Harbour, it's about a 15 minutes walk.

Upkeep seems to be lacking a bit. The general cleanliness was good, but showers could use a bit of work. Shades in bedroom were in disrepair
Great location. Shared bathroom was no problem at all. There were two bathrooms for the four rooms where we were. Great wifi and cozy bedding.

small issue - I like blinds / curtains that block all light, especially early in the morning
Big comfy bedroom in a rooming house style, so shared bathroom (two f them upstairs) so no delays Clean, bright, with TV, chairs, big wardrobe for longer stays. Separate dining / lounge room downstairs for evenings and places to meet people. Even some quiet spaces out in the garden to read or chill. Breakfast in the cafe area.
