How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Staff at the desk were courteous but need more knowledge of area - the hotel has no eating facilities so we would have liked more information about local eating places. We would have liked a folder with written information in the room as to know how the TV worked we had no sound for ABC or SBS channels. We needed to request English breakfast tea as there were only Jasmine green tea, and instant and decaf coffee sachets. A biscuit to have with these would have been nice. Parking was next door at a reduced cost. A pending amount was on a CC and at the end of the stay the amount was taken out of this. Credit card charges were added to this. When you have to pay this way, ie. by CC I don't like having to pay added charges.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Our towels were replaced when requested and the soap products in the bathroom were pleasantly fragranced. Parking was next door in an underground carpark.

It was a bit noisy at night (from the road) and it would've been nice to have some biscuits or extras available in the room - even at a cost

The beds were super small and uncomfortable, the room was very small also. The room when booked was through Booking.com, and we ended up having no room service for the seven days we were there. It isn't clearly advertised on Booking.com when booking.
Location was amazing, super handy to the TRAM stop and the coffee shop downstairs was an added bonus (although not open every day, which was slightly disappointing).

Paying for wifi
easy check-in, on site parking was a breeze with helpful tips from front desk, arrival drinks when you downloaded the Accor app, coffee shop downstairs (but exxy prices), easily located next to the tram/light rail.

Unfortunately it sits close to the road and an intersection. our room was facing the road where the evening road noise is very loud. Did not sleep well.
nice clean rooms with modern amenities. Good location to be close to city central as it was 5 min drive into the shops. Friendly staff.

Restaurant not operating, even for breakfast, is very disappointing. You are referred to a nearby take away with a few outdoor tables and limited offerings. However, there is a brilliant pub, IGA and a couple of take sways just 800 metres away. Car park is extra and located in adjoining building. Wi fi is also at extra cost.
Quiet and convenient location opposite light rail stop. Modern minimalist. Reasonable sized room with compact, but cleverly designed, bathroom. Very clean. Pleasant and efficient staff.

Parking is off street but workable.
Great location and stay at Mantra MacArthur hotel. Staff were really accommodating and proactive in sorting out issues for us.

Second time staying here, downstairs Cafe/table service was not open (understandable during 2021 Covid restrictions, but was disappointed that these facilities were not available this time round).
Good uninterrupted view from upper floor level (centre units). Free street parking on weekends and convenient tram access to city centre. Friendly, helpful staff.

Upon checkout the person being the desk, after serving the customers in front of me, left the reception desk to make coffee for them (no problem) without any form of acknowledgment to myself about what to do, to wait etc. A simple ‘I’ll be right with you’ would have been suffice rather than being blatantly ignored.
