Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWould have preferred to have off street parking. Seemed to us there would have been room for car of first cottage as well as second cottage. Fantastic for short stay, but wouldn’t be ideal for longer stay as no oven or dishwasher.
Exceptionally clean. Very comfortable beds, lovely linen. Fantastic bathroom. Excellent location. Bottle of wine was a lovely treat.

AustraliaNo backyard at all. Is attached to another residence and their carpark was outside our bedroom window. Had to park in street but no issue with that. Perhaps a manual on how to use the heater and other info would have been helpful. We turned it off and couldn’t get it back on.
Delightful cottage. Great location walking distance to Convent and town. Very quiet, clean and comfy beds. Lots of fluffy towels. Our son loved the spa bath. Huge bathroom!

AustraliaHave suggested to hosts that they put together instructions for the heating system. Also that they up the cleaning in a specific area. Erin emailed back straight away to say they're on it and appreciated the feedback. The kitchen is fine if you're planning on eating out around Daylesford but it is basic.
Location was convenient to town. Weather was cold so the fireplace & provided wood was very pleasant. House also has centrally controlled hydronic heating so very comfortable throughout. The thermostat was in the rear bedroom in the corner of the room. Didn't find instructions but easy to use. Switch to manual & set temp. We enjoyed a variety of things in the area over a week - walks in the national parks, waterfalls, parkrun at Creswick. Lots of nice treats from the boutique grocer just down on the corner a few minutes walk away. A winery find on the way back from Creswick was just awesome. Do yourself a favour & check out Captains Creek - book ahead if it's a busy period. Food & wine was awesome as was the view from this out of the way location's deck. Beppe around the corner was a great night out, definitely book.

AustraliaIts not clear where to park as the spot beside the house is actually for the property behind. The people in the place behind complained so the agents texted me, and while there was space for them to park, I did recall some instruction somewhere in the fine print but couldn't find it when we checked in. A small sign on driveway, or even a notice at the key lock box would be helpful.
Maple Daylesford is a lovely two bedroom cottage that made a perfect base for a 3 night stay. Although it was mid summer we had a cold snap and having the reticulated hot water heating on when we arrived made the place cosy over the entire stay. It was cold enough to justify a fire in the fireplace which added a nice ambience to the lounge room. With two large bedrooms (both queen beds) and huge bathroom and good kitchen there was everything we could want. The house is an older property but has retained the old charm while having all the mod cons needed. Its location is perfect, a short walk into town or up the hill to the Convent (amazing) or to the many shops in town, or to Cliffy's for breakfast or Bistro Terrior, Beppe's or the Boathouse for dinner.

AustraliaThe spa bath caused such a mess. I'm worried that the water will damage the wall and skirting boards over time.

Australiajust a bit of dust and cobwebs, my daughter gets allergies so she’s allergic to dust, but this didn’t stop us enjoying our stay, I just wiped the side tables in the bedroom and cleared cobwebs also I would always leave a place clean, but being told to wash dishes etc when you’re paying nearly $400 per night I would think would include a professional cleaner and the reason you go away is to get away from chores. I also don’t want to use dishes that another guest has washed in case they didn’t wash them properly
great location, comfortable beds, cosy house

AustraliaSince there is no back garden, the only outside space is the front verandah, but there is very little furniture out there to sit on. It would be great to have an outdoor setting on the verandah to make that easier as it was so lovely to sit out there and watch the world go by in the beautiful surrounds.
Lovely house, and very central location. It was very comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again.
