The cottage was set alongside the Ovens River and was walking distance from town. It was spacious and had everything you could need. The gardens on the property were full of colour and the bird baths were constantly in use by the many birds that frequented the garden. The hosts were friendly and welcoming.

Guest parking was located near the main house, so one had to carry one's bags down through the garden to the cottage. I was self catering so this involved several trips between cottage and car on arrival and departure. take care when putting something in the kitchen tidy as you can hit your head on the cupboard when you come up again. I moved the kitchen bin further away from kitchen cupboard during my stay. the microwave is idiosyncratic to operate! There was a mini-stove with two gas burners but no gas lighter and the stove didn't light with matches either- a mystery!

The host couple were warm and welcoming. The cottage I stayed in was downstairs and formed one quarter of an old two story house with character and beautiful gardens. Each cottage had its own entrance and outdoor table and chairs. The living room has an open fire, which was set up ready to light by the host with extra chopped wood outside the door, which kept the unit warm during the very cold evenings. the cottage location was quiet and peaceful and was close to the river running behind the cottages. It was lovely to walk 10 minutes on the path beside the river into town and to escape to the cottage afterwards.

Would have liked an oven. Also stepping into shower was not so easy as I have a hip problem. Mattress also on the soft side.

Set beautifully near to Owen river. Property had real ambience and comfortable for our family. Would lone to stay here again

Can't honestly think of anything l didn't like

Merrimeet Cottages is perfectly situated along the river, with a simple 10 minute walk into the gorgeous town of Bright. The cottages are well appointed with wood fires in each cottage. The staff were incredibly friendly & there's nothing nicer than your morning coffee looking out into the peaceful garden.

No oven or airfryer. It would've been nice if it had either. You could hear the people upstairs. Fridge smelled, so I gave it a bit of a clean and it was okay after that. Freezer part didn't work, ice cream was half melted. Water smelled like chlorine and took a long time to heat up.

The views from anywhere on the property were beautiful. It was close to the main part of town and had access to the canyon walk. Alastair was very helpful and nice, and their friendly dog Rioli would come sit with us or visit. Had a laundry and dryer available. Making our own fire every night.

The only issue was the fire, it was awfully Smokey and at times our fire alarm did go off after following the instructions in the book, along with my partner being a wood cutter, otherwise just the lighting that comes in from the bathroom through the shaded glass

So homely!! The owners Alistair and Kellie do a wonderful job to help in anyway they can; such a gorgeous place, felt so comfortable from the moment we arrived!!! & so many walking tracks around, we already can’t wait to stay again!!

The only unfortunate thing was hearing everything from the unit above from early in the morning. Every step they made, even their talking could be heard. The guests above us in the unit weren't trying to be noisy, it's just the way the building was designed above us. Unfortunate but nobody's fault, it's a double storey and the floor above us had absolutely no sound proofing. We probably would visit again though...

Cosy, quiet & private old world but modern unit in nature gardens and river surroundings. Wood heater and split system during winter and we were always snug. Checking in was quick, easy and professional.
