There is a good reason the place usually closes over summer - the aircon could not keep up with the rising heat and cooling the tent after 0830 in the morning was impossible. Even the shampoo got too hot to use. It was fine once the sun went down.

The place is very well appointed with the meeting tent providing a great place to sit and relax by the pool. We were very lucky to have the whole campsite to ourselves (it was December and 45 degrees) so we spent most of our time at the meeting tent because of the extra shade, comfy pool chairs and large table, eating our meals there, swimming and having drinks in the pool. Sitting on our own verandah, star gazing and drinking the complimentary port was a great way to end each day.

Loved the comfy bed, big bath with a wonderful relaxing view of the grounds and the added touch of home made continental breakfast each morning.

It was very hot when we arrived. It would have been nice to walk into a cool tent. However, the air conditioning was only turned on once we arrived making the tent very hot on arrival.

Continental breakfast was very generous and delicious. I would have liked some vegemite for a spread as well as the jam. Paper napkins could be supplied. I liked the location. Close to town yet you would think you were a hundred miles away. Very quiet. Lovely to sit on your deck and watch the birds and kangaroos. There is also the opportunity to get the Courtesy Bus from Birdcage Tavern to pick you up and take you back for dinner. Very convenient. Katrina and Brett picked us up from the airport and took us back again. Very much appreciated.

I thoroughly recommend Mitchell Grass Retreat. The setting is peaceful, and the accommodation is spacious, private. and well appointed. A very comfortable bed. We woke up every morning to a great view of the sunrise over open space, with a few wallabies and birdlife nearby. Great place to look at the stars at night, away from the lights of town. Delicious home made continental breakfast set us up well for the day. Our hosts were friendly, helpful and well organised, and also gave us privacy to enjoy the environment.

There was nothing that I did not like.

Everything. The bed was super comfortable, the shower was big, and the bath was deep. The towels were soft and fluffy. Breakfast was delicious and delivered on time every morning. The view was amazing, and it was lovely to sit outside for meals.

The property is very well located minutes from Longreach. Tanya and David were welcoming on arrival and the Safari Tents were beautifully appointed and very comfortable.

It was a wonderful experience, the hospitality provided by the hosts were outstanding, I have not roasted marshmallows by the fire for over 20 years, this was joyful as it brought back great memories. The comfort of the beds ensured a perfect nights sleep. Highly recommended. You do not need TV to have a relaxing time. The Breakfast provided was fresh, homemade and delicious.
