Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe fully equipped kitchen was not as described as per photos. The free standing cooker had no gas and a small electric oven and electric two burner plate was placed on top of that. The two burner failed to produce enough heat to cook our meat and vegies so we were forced to purchase a camping stove. The bloody rug in the kitchen area was a tripping hazard also. We also had ants throughout the house and no matter how much antkill I sprayed, they just kept coming. My mattress had a large dip in the middle making it difficult to sleep. The lounge had a broken leg and on closer inspection found that none of the legs had been completely screwed in.
The location was good and central for our outings.

United KingdomThis is a rustic type of property, if you are looking for a property with character, rather than the usual modern build, then you might enjoy this one. The kitchen and bathroom are relatively modern and are big. The house has 3 quite big bedrooms, all with double beds, so 6 people can be easily slept in this property. Access was easy by way of getting a key from the locked key box at the house. The walk to the main part of town was about 20 minutes. Plenty of free car parking on the street near the house.

Everything was clean. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of space.

AustraliaWell there isn't anything we didn't like but these are merely suggestions and helpful hints I think - 1. I would say you should bring your own pillows if possible. I didn't like mine which was a feather pillow. Way to soft and flat for me. It is a personal choice. 2. We went out to Silverton for a day and took a picnic but there are not any plastic containers to use for salads or vegetables. There are no real sharp knives to cut anything. Some of those things need to be in the cupboards. 3. You have to step into the bathtub for the shower use. There should be a plastic suction mat in the tub because it is slippery and if someone slipped it could be bad. Again, all small things but really helpful when people are staying.
The location is in a very quiet part of Broken Hill so no problems there. The property is very old but has been renovated inside. It is comfortable but small. The three bedrooms are comfortable and all double so 6 people can stay easily. We enjoyed our stay which was a weekend (2 nights).

AustraliaThe steps down to the bathroom were dangerous for people our age. There was only one step but it was the colour of the tiles on the floor below making it hard to see the edge. In fact I fell in the night. I believe a railing, or at the least, a coloured safety strip on the step would be a good safety feature. Also I think I may have left a jumper in one of the drawers but haven't heard from the owner. Mind you, I have only just arrived home after a big trip so haven't as yet contacted the owner to see if my jumoper has been located.
It was well equipped and clean. Also very well decorated and maintained, and well priced. It was a treasure.

AustraliaSee above re cleaning chemicals, internal repairs, TV reception (minimized by Netflix, Stan and Youtube) and tom cat (wish I had a gun!)
Doesn't look anything from the outside, but comfortable and clean accommodation with good faciliities, including Netflix and Youtube (important as some TV station reception poor). As we came by train, access to my cousin's vehical (or rental car) was critical to get around, because shops etc let alone sights were a fair walk. Washing machine was used and good. Only disappointments were shortage of cleaning chemicals like spray and wipe, disinfectant and toilet duck. This was critical due to an erant tom cat urinating on front door mat; had to use hot water and most of disinfectant to remove smell. I would advise owners to properly repair holes in floor boards (rather than covering with duct tape and mat) and poorly patched holes in plaster, as these detract otherwise from the presentation of the internals of the property. In general would definitely stay again and recommend rental to three singles or couples/families travelling together, because of 3 double bedrooms.

AustraliaParking was a little ambiguous. We located the manual gate to open for parking after we got into the house, but decided it was easier to park on the side street. Only a miner mishap.
Spacious 3 double beds with comfortable lounge, bathroom and kitchen facilities. Some board games were provided which was a nice touch. Original floorboards and high ceilings is a nice change from the typical motel room.

AustraliaCould have used a dryer as we did a load of washing but never managed to get it dry before having to leave the next day. TV reception breaks up occasionally when seeking free to air channels, but there is good internet and wifi for things like netflix.
Little cottage tucked away up the back of Broken Hill. Close to Woolworths, but not much else (eg cafes, dining) around the area where the cottage is -- this was OK though as we had a car. Was really good to have use of a full kitchen and washing machine. Bobby was very responsive with questions when we were staying at the property, and check in/out was simple.

AustraliaThe stove/oven simply did not work, despite there being ample cooking equipment. Maybe no gas, certainly no lighter for the gas. Certainly no instructions. I sent a request for help on this matter via Booking.com, but no help was provided. So we had to buy in, or go out, for meals - very expensive and a waste of the fresh food I bought for our meals. There was a strange, quite small, oriental hot plate that I tried to cook bacon and eggs on, it was luke warm (despite showing 260C) and succeeded only in drying out both the bacon and the eggs. The heating was quite inadequate - an air-conditioner clumsily shoved into a window did not warm the rooms intended. There was what seemed to be a gas heater in the old fireplace, but it simply did not work. There was another black imitation fire heater also provided, but whilst some tepid warm air came out of it, this was certainly of no use for heating. Parking was an issue at the front of the house with other locals using the whole space, so parking up on the verge (illegal?) was the only option. The back yard and associated sheds were very run down and completely neglected. Bindis covered the dirt (meant to be grassed) areas. Internally, there are cables draped around in a variety of places, not exactly safe. The bath shower (in a bath tub) should have a mat to reduce the chance of folk slipping over in the shower.
Bedrooms and bathroom were generally good, but cold. Location in Broken Hill was good.

AustraliaMinor issues with a number of appliances - one not working, gas stove ignitor not working, and electric frypan I chose not to use. Heating was a bit difficult - finally found instructions for one of the heater/coolers.
The property looked a little daunting from the outside, but once inside it was great. Location was not a problem, but needed the car to get into town. Seemed to have everything that you might need. Beds very comfortable!
