Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe would have liked a much smoother check in process and an email before we arrived stating we needed to bring everything- linen, pillows, cookware, cutlery, bowls etc, matches, sponge, tea- towel, bath mat, towels- Everything!! I’ve stayed in similar places and loved it, but there’s been more communication about what to bring and often some of the above is supplied.
Beautiful Location, loved the hot shower and comfy bed and gas stove and candles and friendly staff

AustraliaThe Sink tap barely reaches the sink, it works, but is less functional. Some insulation would improve the cabin, and maybe a few more places to hang clothes/wet items, but these are suggested improvements to make the place better, I'd stay there again.
great location, cabin has a lovely rustic feel and there's plenty of firewood and the people who run the cabin were really proactive and helpful.

AustraliaCould be a bit cleaner (was dusty) cabin is very basic but it suited us well, was like camping with a bit of comfort. The hot water didn’t heat up at all so we didn’t use the shower (was way too cold).
The location, and the surrounds were perfect. The inside fireplace is great and so was the outdoor firepit, though we didn’t use it. Was really nice to feel well and truly immersed in the natural environment.

AustraliaWhen I went there had been heavy rains (and extensive flooding in NSW generally) and the driveway required high clearance 4wd to traverse the boggy ground. The back stairs were slippery due to the rain.
This is a comfortable fishing shack beside a trout stream and in the vicinity of some extraordinarily beautiful national parks. You get access to maybe 100m of the stream. The online blurb and the contact person made it clear that you should regard your stay here like a camping trip, as it has no electricity so you need to bring your own lighting, esky, cooking/eating hardware, sleeping bag or bed linen. However it has simple but comfortable beds for 10, a twin gas burner for cooking, hot water and hot shower. It has flushing toilets outside. The house was clean inside and the wood burning heater kept it snug inside when it was cold and raining outside. The firewood is provided cut into handy sizes, but you need your own axe to split it

AustraliaAs it was raining there was a slippery bank access to the cabin. The bathroom floor was also very slippery when wet. The mattress protectors need to be binned.
The rustic charm . The wood stove. The Styx river , fishing , wildlife, waterfalls and the old hydro power station in the gorge. The peace, quietness and remoteness. The hot shower.

AustraliaMissing description for accom when booking. Should include the following: 1. Site not accessible with 2wd after heavy rain and water constantly leaking from broken pipe (pipe broken at time of stay). 2. No electricity 3. Need to bring own linen, sleeping bag etc. 4. Cabin is for 'glamping'
Close to dorrigo national park entry, approx 40min walk or 10min drive. Good communication from staff - they call you a couple of days beforehand and let you know the check in process. Cabin has hot water.

AustraliaWe did not stay at the accommodation Little Styx Cabin “The Possum” and request an immediate refund. After the free cancellation period I received an SMS from the owner “ Hi Benn. Your key box code for Possum cabin is ++++. There is a hot water shower and gas cook top. Please bring all linen and cookware. You will need an axe to split firewood. There is no electricity. Please take all rubbish with you. Plus the address.” There was no mention that there was no refrigeration and that the toilet facilities were up the slope thru the tall grass. None of this information appeared on the booking.com site. This was misleading and deceptive conduct. The accommodation was blatantly inadequate. When we arrived in the pouring rain, water was pouring around the cabin, a sign indicated that fire wood was not to be chopped on the concrete outside the hut but there was no other under cover site to do so. The bunks were very poor. We left immediately and had to find accommodation in Armidale as the Ebor Motel was fully booked. I request a full refund forthwith and the honesty of the advertising be revisited.
The location was lovely and possibly some reasonable trout fishing but far to wet to experience either.

AustraliaBooking information is misleading. Did not warn us of no electricity and very basic facilities. I only learnt about this by chance when I phoned the manager to enquire about a fridge and cooking facilities. It was only then I was told the cabin was super basic, without electricity and we should take an axe to chop wood for the fire. Moreover, the address given for Little Styx Cabins is incorrect. This is compounded by the fact there's no Internet or phone service to call the Manager for directions once you're in the area. The booking information should clearly differentiate between the Moffat Cottages, the Moffat Lodge and "Little Styx River Cabins". 660 Point Lookout Rd is the address for the Lodge, which is nowhere near the Cabins, on Forest Road.
Handy to great National Parks. Great walking treks nearby.
