How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location - Quiet yet within short walk of the beach and restaurants. The apartment is spotlessly clean and modern, with every amenity. It felt instantly like home. Dena was very helpful.

Our only complaint is that the place doesn't have a pool, or access to one nearby. We got mixed advice from locals about whether it was safe to swim at the beach (due to crocs and stingers), so not having a pool option was unfortunate. We were travelling for work, so it didn't really impact us, but if we were holidaying we would have liked somewhere to cool off from the heat and humidity. Perhaps Dena could make an arrangement with one of the resorts nearby for her guests to use their pools? Not sure if that's possible, but just an idea.
Nautilus Apartment is a great base for exploring Mission Beach and surrounds. The place is better than we expected, with comfy beds, good aircon, and ample space for 2-4 colleagues, two couples, or a family with kids. It's in a quiet residential street just a very short walk (maybe 300m) from the centre of town and the beach. Dena is a wonderful host who gives great dining tips and advice on what to see. She also makes sure all the little things are taken care of, including bottles of cold water in the fridge, cold milk, coffee pods, soaps, towels, beach towels etc. Nautilus is great, highly recommend it!

Exceptional accommodation. Modern ground floor apartment, very good facilities, laundry, oven,hob, fridge, freezer,kettle, toaster,dishwasher plus all the kithen utensils and crockery you would want for you stay. Dena, the owner could not have been more helpful, she was great. Location was good, at the top of a small hill just off the main road through town. Walking distance down into town to shops and places to eat, as well as access to the beach. Free onsite parking.

WiFi, very spotty. I had to switch between mobile and WiFi, it kept dropping out. Not ideal for video or work.
Our host Dena was sensational, nothing was too much trouble. Location, perfect. Property, the cleanest place we have ever stayed. Facilities, all outstanding, everything worked and was in excellent condition. This is home style comfort in a wonderful location.

Wifi is poor and seems to be satellite wifi, because the pages take a while to fill and then fill quickly but if you change to another website the same thing happens. So, hard to read the news and to do any work.
Lovely property, well maintained, great facilities, quiet location on the hill a fair way from the beach.

The size of the apartment and the facilities were excellent. Dena was extremely helpful, when we needed anything nothing was a trouble. She even helped track our family member’s flight to Cairns.

Everything you could need was supplied. A short walk to the township. Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Dena was extremely helpful and friendly. lovely to see a smiling face after a long drive.

Everything was perfect!
We had a fantastic stay. Everything was clean and in modern and new condition. Dena was amazing, we had a great chat and laugh. ;) The town and beach is in walking distance. We will definitely go back and can highly recommend it.
