How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Access to the property is up a steep driveway and then a double flight of uncovered outside stairs which would be very challenging for anyone with mobility limitations. I think it would be helpful to mention this in the property description.
Very clean and well appointed. Beautiful water view from the lounge over the balcony.

The apartment was great - clean, a great size for 2x couples travelling together. Check in process was beyond easy and the host Hamish with a breeze to deal with. Beds were extra comfy too!

Lovely spacious apartment in great location with lovely bush setting and views of Pittwater. Whale Beach and Avalon walkable around 25mins. Hosts very friendly and even offered us a lift back up the hill on our walk back from the beach.

The key safe was very difficult to open (consequently we had to request assistance) so an easier to use key safe would be helpful.
Lovely room layout, well facilitated kitchen and the view was great.

Not a single thing was wrong with this property.
The property was clean, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. Great location with a wonderful host. Self check-in/check-out was very convenient. Fantastic communication with the host.

Hard to find . Access up stairs with suitcase not suitable for elderly. No door on one bedroom but can shut off from living room .

In an ideal world, a door on the second bedroom. Also, we had four adults showering for a wedding. Beautiful big shower heads used up the hot water quickly before everyone had a turn. If you are not physically able, lots of stairs to the accomodation BUT that is what gives the amazing view.
Beautiful views. Hosts easy to communicate with but not intrusive. Two bathrooms, kitchenette, fireplace.

The wifi connection was weak. You could not access Netflix, Stan, etc because the connection was too poor and you had to use mobile data on your phone due to drop outs.
lovely place, great position and views, very clean, easy booking and directions to the apartment. Comfortable beds, well resourced kitchen and condiments.

Parking was a little tricky due to the narrow road but it was manageable
Spacious and very clean. Comfortable beds. Lovely views. It was also really well stocked. Washing powder, body wash, shampoo etc

Would be great to have a coffee machine. We took our own, however having one available we make the place super great!
