Security cameras are useless, my bike got stolen and was not possible to see who did it. Also is impossible to see who is not washing the dishes

There was a lot of sand in the room from previous guests. Shower taps were not working well, it was not possible to keep the shower’s water temperature consistent.

Toilets a bit dirty and smelly as well as kitchen sometimes.

Great location very close to the beach and the main street with cafes, shops, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. 2 big spacious kitchens and a nice pool. Many tables outside and two smoking areas. Nice common area with a big sofa and a tv.

Friendly staff. Has bar and pool table on the ground floor. Although is a building there is heap of separate spaces for people to chill out. Room has locker to put some stuff in there

The hot shower wasn’t working since days before and they didn’t tell us at the check in… we choose that one a little bit more expensive because of that so it was bad this situation.

Loved how the staff were friendly and helpful. They had discounts to the local pubs and the accommodation was walking distance to the main street. The room was comfy and spacious.

The whole place feels a bit uncared for, and not very clean. Everything was a bit grubby and falling apart: the sea water pool wasn’t exactly inviting, as it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Same with the gym area. Most of all what annoyed me was our room. We booked the Queen studio room. There’s no denying, for an en suite private room with a double bed: it’s a very reasonable price. BUT the room pictured in the booking information IS NOT the room you get. It’s not finished to anywhere near the same standard and is not even the same room from the pictures. Much of the limited fittings in the room were damaged (eg the table and chairs) and shower (while powerful and hot) leaked and flooded the bathroom during every use. The windows and fly screens were also damaged, which is a big deal when staying somewhere like Port Douglas, which isn’t short of jungle wildlife. Very rarely a staff member at the reception to raise any of this with and it felt a bit unfair to complain given the price and the hospitable vibe, but they should be honest about what you are booking and take a little more care to keep the place clean and smart. I love youth hostels and stay in them regularly, but this one felt like it wasn’t hitting the standards you can find in one these days.

It’s in a good central location. A big hostel with some nice touches: the bar and kitchen area is great, as is the tv room and balcony. It’s great to have the gym area, but some of the equipment is so worn out it’s a little unsafe!

Noisy as all concrete, no soft furniture to absorbe the internal noise.

Great size room. Large room with very comfortable queen bed, tv, bathroom, kettle snd fridge in room. Noisy at night with doors banging. Street noise pretty good but if it was party time in the downstairs bar it would have been very noisy. Staff were excellent as were other guests, very friendly. Good value for money for the room size and amenities.

too dirty - bedrooms, kitchen and toilets. Men’s toilet stinks from distance. Check-in could be improved by the staff too, they don’t explain much, it’s like this is your key; check out at 10am and the rest “find out by yourself”

The bathrooms really need some work! The ones through the main rec area had broken tiles in the showers and mould on the walls
