Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe bed wasn’t done and they told me I had to do it, it is my job to do so. The towel is rented (you pay for it and then you give it back, but you don’t get your money back, like a deposit) “Free” breakfast is coffee and tea from 9am until 10am. Bathrooms were being cleaned at 8am, which makes sense since everyone likes to shower during the afternoon and not when they wake up…
Location - in front of a police station and quite a few parking options around it.

United KingdomThe private room had no window other than a sky light (which we didn’t even realise until light came in at morning) so felt quite like a prison, air con was so rubbish it was so hot in there. Filled with men working there that barely spoke English, would’ve felt uncomfortable if was there as a solo female.
Massive kitchen which was needed for the amount of people in there, toilets and showers were like lil rooms with both in which was nice for privacy

United KingdomVery deceiving and poor advertisement as the images of the hostel only display 6 - bed dorms, when choosing the room it also didn’t state the amount of people in the room, upon arrival was shown to a dorm of 16 people. Disgraceful considering the price per night for such a basic hostel with poor/minimal facilities. Kitchen is very small, ‘free breakfast included’ is very basic and unappealing, cornflakes and bread. Hostel has no atmosphere and majority staying there are long termers. No communal areas so can’t go anywhere to do anything. Room can get hot at night as the room is so big with only one small air con unit If you are in the room of 16 there is no wifi signal as the coverage doesn’t reach. Hostel has about 4 washing machines but 3 of which are out of order so there is only one functioning washer and dryer for the whole hostel.

GermanyWe did not really feel comfortable. The bed had wheels under it, so it would always roll away when one was leaning against the wall (maybe they do it to make cleaning easier, but it wasn‘t clean under the bed so that makes no sense) The bed was also a bit small. The Hostel got cleaned every morning but more on a surface Level. Even Though the Tiles etc. Seemed Fairly new, there were a lot of stains already. Furthermore, there is not really a bathroom. On the Upper floor there are three sinks on the corridor and then there is one separat toilet, one shower and two rooms with a shower AND a toilet in there. However, as people tend to shower in the morning and Not for 5 minutes only, there was often no toilet available on the Upper floor. It seemed that there was a larger group of French people in the Hostel that acted liked the Hostel was Theirs. One Morning we came down the Stairs and already Heard someone snoring. As we came down, we saw a lot of guys of this group sleeping on every Couch and armchair there was. There was no other Space available, besides in the kitchen. They Must have spent the night there, as one of them was Even using his sleeping bag. We would Not stay there again
Die Location was very good. It was within walking distance to the CBD and the Central Station and also a street with a lot of Restaurants, bars

GermanyAlthough they clean everyday, there are so many people that it's dirty anyways. The rooms are tiny and the lockers too, there is no space for your luggage. The beds are awful, make a lot of noise and unstable. WiFi is not the best. The whole hostel is too expensive for what you get. It's full of long term residents and they run the place. Not a place to socialise, everyone keeps to themselves or only talks to people speaking their own language.
Very centrally located, downtown and supermarket is just 10-15mins away by foot. Quiet area. Kitchen is big and well equipped.

United KingdomThe place had a very weird vibe. No one really spoke and it had such a weird atmosphere the whole time. Lots of people were staying long term so there was no one to socialise or do anything with. The whole place made me feel a little depressed. Also the rooms had no windows or airflow which only added to that feeling.

AustraliaI hope they can put shower gel in the bathroom in the future.
The location of this backpackers is execeptional, this is actually situated in front of the Police station, so you are sure that your stay with them is safe. Facility are wondeful, tho i did not got a chance to roam around but by just looking at the reception, you have a 360 view of the entire floor, it was clean spacious and all of the guest was amazing. The bed is really comfortable, ive rented a private room, it was clean very spacious and private, socket near the bed and mirror with study table, chair and drawer. Linens smells good, you wouldnt know that there was someone sleeping in the bed before you, they prepare the room just like the expensive hotel around perth. Reception and staff are amazing and wonderful people, you can check-in late and the hotline is still available even if its late, but dont be so late to check in, as the staff still need to rest too, so better to check in early to avoid hassle. Over all it was a lovely stay and i enjoyed it, will stay here again. Thanks Qoukka youre awesome!
