How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Housekeeping wasn’t everyday, not at the weekends, the apartment and building was clean there were a few places that could just do with an extra polish or wipe over.
Comfortable and spacious apartment. Staff were friendly and the location was right on the train line which with the windows closed you couldn’t hear. You could get to anywhere needed on the trams and trainlines

No hand towels or washers, limited lighting in the bathroom. Had to ask for extra pillows. Gym has no sanitary wipes or extra towels.

The bed was not comfortable. The pillows were too soft, altho the front desk gave me a better pillow when I requested for one. The sofa and armchairs in the adjoining room was in a deplorable state - lumpy n out of shape.
The location, minutes from the South Yarra train station n a short walk to Toorak Road, was ideal for us.

I had to ask twice to get my room serviced I came for a week. Arrived Thu and finally go my room serviced on Tuesday after asking Monday and Tuesday. They said the would do it Wednesday as for some reason they had missed me Monday. I wasn’t happy so they did the clean on the Tuesday. A manager came out and o strode the staff member as she could see I wasn’t satisfied.

There was only one air conditioner in the lounge room and no bedroom fans. When the hot afternoon sun hit, it was quite warm!
The staff were very helpful and friendly before and during our stay. The location and the apartments were great and it was definitely value for money. The queen bed with topper was extremely comfortable for a great night sleep.

The car park was quite an ordeal, the spots for Punthill are many levels up once you enter the carpark and it was quite time consuming to get in and out. If you aren't comfortable with concrete pylons stick to public transport. The Queen sized bed was way too soft, I believe it may have had a super soft topper on it, and I felt like I sank into the bed and it made me a bit too warm.
I saw some reviews for Punthill South Yarra that were quite negative just after I had booked, but thankfully I wasn't disappointed by our stay. The location is great right on South Yarra train station, with a tram stop to Melbourne CBD just up the road. Having said that, the noise wasn't too bad, just the occasional toot from a train entering or leaving a tunnel. A short walk to many great restaurants and cafes on Chapel Street and Toorak Road with Woolworths and Big W close by. The room itself was really nice, admittedly a little shabby from age as other reviews say, but it was very clean and tidy and perfect for our stay with two young kids. The staff were extremely helpful whenever I had a question or needed something.

Was quite dirty and had marks all over the walls… Had to ask for our room to be cleaned as it wasn’t done the first morning (not even a quick clean like the con. notes said)… Beds were ok, but could’ve been a bit comfier & an actual double rather than singles pushed together….
Staff super friendly & good location. Price for the stay and the room was great. Lovely view, quiet surrounds & free upgrade was nice.

Gym is a little dated and there are no towels or hand sanitiser. Sometimes the room wasn't cleaned. But mostly it was done really well.
I have stayed here a few times and the last time I stayed the view of the city was amazing! Staff were helpful.

Carpets were really stained and gross and decoration of the room was outdated. Sofa bed wasn’t great.
Perfect location, amazing staff who respond quickly to any requests. Room is refreshed every couple of days and the coffee amenity was great.
