The property was generally starting to look a little tired, with obvious wear and some minor damage to furnishings. The dishwasher did not work. The property was very cold and the gas fire was not very warm and stopped working- staff said the fire had a safety cut off and would restart after a ‘couple of minutes’ it still did not restart after4+ hours and one member off staff still tried to say this was our error! We could not easily close windows that had been left open as the mechanisms for winding shut were faulty. We also feel that it is unhygienic to have no cover on the duvet and it was just placed between two sheets. The beds are extremely soft which may cause a problem for some people.

Location was excellent with lovely views and easy access to National Parks. Accommodation was spacious and in a lovely position.

It's a long way on a small road, but well worth driving.

Great location for bird watching, beautiful walking tracks. You can feed king parrots and crimson rosellas if you buy a plate/bowl with bird seeds from the shop or the rangers. The birds will come and sit on your head and arms. The room was well equipped, beds are comfy. Excellent breakfast buffet with a huge selection of food and drinks.

Villa could do with better low lighting in the dining and living areas for cosy evenings.

The villa was spacious and convenient. In the rare moments when it wasn't drizzling the views were breathtaking. Hot tub was fab after long days of walking. Staff helpful.

Even though there is a key fob on the door I do think that a lock will make a lot of people feel more safe. You can hear everyone going pasts conversations which led her to be woken up at 3am as someone was having a conversation outside of our door.

I loved how welcoming the front staff was when we first arrived. The room was big and spacious.

All was pretty good, the place is getting dated on one hand, and I believe you need to resurrect some of the authenticity. Such as in plain site where the old timbers and homestead were, the real essence of what they endured when they were there, so we can touch and feel. The library is a great place to do but undersold as a place to visit and enjoy. A talk in the library would be good, too much emphasis on the crash of the plane and the rescue. Sadly people are only interested in a win story these days. I'm a pilot and absolutely love flying, however the mock up plane is too big a statement to have as one of the first things you see before flora and fauna get their chance to impress. The beauty is a given I and I believe that is what is keeping the place going. You need to reinvigorate yesteryear as well as some modern touches. I ca see the quality of equipment purchases have been top class of late which says to me someone who is a good operations person is in your employ. I am not talking spending millions just change the attitude of the places ethos to more engage and delight us more. Staff were great I am not talking about them.

The inherent beauty of the place

When it the sign at the bottom of the hill says its an hour's drive to the top, you'd better believe it! And there's no way to speed it up, but the views are fantastic.

What a unique place. Quite spectacular, the scenery, the views, the wildlife, the tours and services offered by the resort. Special mention to the 4x4 tour; small group, expert guide going to places otherwise inaccessible. Should be on the top ten places to visit in Queensland! Make sure you arrive early and allow a couple of days, so much to see and do.

Not being able to stay longer... Points to ponder - the only place to eat at night is the restaurant: whilst serving excellent (and gf option) food is A$ 100 for three courses + wine is not an insignificant amount, but you are a captive audience as the cafe (with a more economical menu) closes at 4pm. Everything else was perfect, especially out rosetta wake-up call every .morning

This is a stunning place to visit - 35k from the nearest town and up a very windy precipitous road - not for the faint-hearted!! The staff were generally friendly and helpful, and the guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic and VERY sharp eyed (I will never forget the banded snake, the huntsman spider leaf iguana and trap for spiders... absolutely fascinating. And for calmer moments, the infinity pool was sublime. However - not a one night stay!!

I felt the rooms needed an up-grade with some things. I noticed many weeds in and around the retreat and feel that maybe they should be controlled before they escape back into the rainforest.

Room: Spacious, clean, different furniture and decoration. (fitting to the retreat) Breakfast: Very good. Dinner: One night at the Restaurant and one night at the bar. Both very good. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful on the whole. Bird Walk: Very interesting though sometimes couldn't hear what was being said by the guide. Watched the movie about the animals and birds. Also, very interesting about Bernard O'Reilly and the Stinson and learning about how life was at the time.

The drive up is not fun but that's why it's so amazing up there. Wish they had bbq and microwave facilities for room guests and a bigger fridge so I could put drinks and food in. Eating out up there becomes extremely expensive if solo traveller. Best to be prepared and take everything with you.

I loved it. All the birds. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful. Lovely walks. Would of love to have stayed longer.
