Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur second time staying at Salt Box was as good as the first. This time we stayed two nights to be able to better enjoy the local offerings. Though small, this little piece of paradise packs a punch. The bed is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped with every detail thought of. Being at the water's edge and hearing it lapping onto the shore is a real treat. We will be back!

AustraliaNothing- it was magical.
This was the most amazing place. Spotlessly clean. Very well equipped. Great breakfast provisions. Every little detail covered. The location was magical ( saw dolphins every morning) , friendly ducks, excellent fire pit ( even marshmallows were provided). Idyllic.

AustraliaThe serenity was wonderful. Great view, fire pit was lovely, lots of extra touches that made the stay special. The resident ducks added lots of fun. We left something behind and the staff could not have been more helpful in assisting to retrieve it. Very much appreciated.

AustraliaLeaving
Salt Box Hideaway was something truly special in a secluded part of Strahan. The cabin has everything you could possibly need and is super comfortable. We spent our afternoons on the deck having drinks and enjoying the stunning view whilst being entertained by the resident ducks. At night we sat by the fire pit toasting marshmallows and enjoying the stars and the serenity. We will be back

AustraliaCoffee table was wobbly (few screws missed). The height of the bed was confusing. It's nice and cool but so high. I'm 182 cm and had to climb on it. In the toilet/shower room nice round window without any curtain. So at night time if someone wants to see you they will. Maybe one day the owner will be able to make some cover over the deck - it gonna be amazing specially at rainy days.
This is an incredible location. We've been there in the middle of the week so probably because of that there were nobody around (only ducks). It was so quiet, so nice... with complementary port... There are all that you need for cooking but without hood though. Various table games for any occasion. Great heater.

Australiaexterior lighting could have been better, and a bit of a veranda to keep deck dry in wet weather and shade in summer for bbqs etc would make it an awesome little cabin.

AustraliaI didn't like having to leave
This hideaway is a truly special place for those wanting a private getaway with some magic. We had such a beautiful experience and Michelle did everything to make sure our stay was perfect. I loved the attention to detail for a seaside stay and having ducks come to greet us was the cherry on top. This modern meets sea-shack chic was comfortable with beautiful views and food provided with local produce to make super yummy morning omelettes. Loved staying here and will be back soon!

AustraliaWhere to start, I liked everything about this place. The fire pit is a highlight for me, even in winter I loved this so much. The port yum. The host is a great communicator. The design is great. The bed is the comfiest I slept on in Tassie. Heaps of food supplied. Also, this is in a heritage part of Strahan and is really beautiful. Do the red boat cruise if you are visiting, that was sweet! Love the ducks too.

AustraliaBreakfast is very poor. Bed next to the wall is not convenient. The overall cost for the room is very high, $320 for a room like this is no value for money. For the money I paid, I can have better service and facility. Not recommended.
Location is great and quiet. The surrounding holiday houses are very poor constructed and maintained. The whole area looks like a cheap camp site next to the water. Breakfast is very poor. only opened half pack of bread, some cereal, honey and jam, no other things at all.

AustraliaBed against the wall was a big NO, console and table were a constant trip hazard (legs sticking out), lounge uncomfortable, and too much stuff in cupboards. It would also be a plus to have an awning over the deck so usable in the drizzle.
Location, brilliant being on the water with great views, the ducks and having a TV. The accommodation was modern, well appointed and very clean.
