It was nice to stay here. I could spend the night comfortably, and good location to go east coast or Tasman peninsula.

We spent two nights in unit B3 and it was more like a mini house than a motel room, the barracks are walking distance to everything you need if you have to shop. The history behind the place was impressive as well. The Barracks were also a great stepping stone to Port Arthur, Richmond and Hobart. If I go back to Sorell I know where I will stay.

The room looked out directly to the main Street, and the size was small. No proper kitchen.

Nice location in Sorell with a cosy room. Nice vintage style stuff in the room. The host was helpful when needed. Outside is a nice setting to sit on benches

Very small, maybe petty but it is advertised as providing chocolates and snacks and for 2 people for 3 days we got 6 teabags, 2 biscuits and 2 single chocolates. 🙁

Lovely old building, lots of character, very roomy and comfortable

As the ceilings were low, you need to be mindful when you walk in the apartment. There is also a steep climb to the apartment.

    Beautifully appointed and styled apartment

This wasn't a big issue, but there is no kitchen table in the room ( due to space). There is a side table, but this was where one of our suitcases sat, so the only tables we had were the ones outside. Fortunately, we had good weather so we ate outdoors, which was nice as the gardens are lovely!

Situated in a very quiet street, Sorrel Barracks is charming! We stayed 3 nights in the old supply store which is the stand alone building on the left end of the Barracks. The kitchen and bathroom were equipped with everything you need when on holidays, and the queen sized bed was very comfy. Sorrel is a close drive from the city, the beautiful village of Richmond, and is only a 10 minute drive from the airport. It was the perfect home base for day trips around the Hobart area. Would definitely recommend!

Continued from my last comment... We didn't get to meet the owners of the accommodation, unfortunately, but they left us lovely little notes in the apartment along with some nice little treats. All correspondence with them was very good.

It was cute, small i was happy for 1 night but would drive me crazy any longer we were in Unit number 5. I would have liked to have a ironing board and iron in the room but don't know where you would put it so small room. My husband didn't like the shower as he said to small and couldn't move in it. But over all well done. Lorraine

Nothing really if you accept that it is an old building. The stairs to the upper floor accommodation are very steep but not an issue if you take care and are reasonably active.

If your looking for something a little different then the Sorrell Barracks are highly recommended. It is well restored 1840's building so does have a few features that may or not appeal but our family very much enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, near the airport and wineries with Hobart just a short drive away. Sorrell has a good supermarket, bakery and coffee shop.

There was really nothing we didn't like and we would definitely stay there again. However, the entry stairs to our upstairs room, were quite steep and narrow which wasn't an issue for us, but could be for someone less steady on their feet. (There is ground floor accommodation available as well.)

The barrack have been tastefully renovated, the available space was of a good size. All the necessary facilities were provided with a toaster, kettle and sandwich maker in the kitchenette. The living space was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. access was easy, chocolates in the kitchen basket were a welcome treat upon our arrival. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of off-street parking provided.

Nothing, though better signs on the waste bins outside would have made it easier to decide what rubbish went in each bin, it was obvious that people had thrown things in the wrong bin.

Very old building, very well made into pleasant units. Sat and ate in the garden every night.

Older folk should be warned of steep stairs before booking.

This was a great location for us. The bed was very comfortable and cosy as was the whole unit. They had added little touches to make out stay very enjoyable.
