Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaGetting the key from the lock box was very time consuming - firstly, the lock box is in a awkward position and it is very dark. When we finally established we had the correct code the box would not open. In the end I had to attack it with scissors and finally prised it open. Same in reverse when we came to leave. However, the host promised to take a look at it.

United Arab EmiratesThe apartment was poorly equipped with essentials, such as toilet paper (1 roll for 10 day stay), soap, trash bags (1 in the bin) and other toiletries. There is also a washing machine and a dishwasher at the apartment, but no dishwasher tablets or washing liquid provided - as such we were advised by the agency that these items are to be purchased by guests, so even if you are staying for a night or two you would need to spend money on items you may use once and have to leave behind. These really are basic supplies that should be covered for the length of stay and would make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Also the shower wasn’t draining so we had to remove the drain panel which had months worth of hair built up which was gross we told the agency but they didn’t offer to come and clean it up. You’re also asked by the agency to basically clean the apartment before you leave clearing all rubbish and food doing all the dishes etc we did this but I think this should be taken care of by the cleaning team.
The apartment itself is great, it’s in a really nice location and the unit is light and very spacious. There are great coffee shops nearby and it’s only a short walk to CBD.

AustraliaUnfortunately, the bathroom light switch and the oven were faulty during our four days stay. It took our time to explain with the host and arrange for the electrician's visit. The oven was not fixed during our stay. We were given early check-in and late check-out.
The accommodation is in a fantastic central location that's close to public transport. It has everything a short-term stay needs. The host, Airkeeper is easy and friendly to deal with.

New ZealandAs others have mentioned, terribly managed by AirKeeper. - The shower had mould everywhere, and you could see that the drains had not been cleared out in a while. It also made a terrible high pitched squeaking sound when you turned up the water pressure, so you could only use it at a low-medium level. - The kitchen tap is loose to the point where you cannot turn it on without stabilising it with your other hand. Such an easy fix with the right tools, but it looks like this has been a problem for a while with no remedy. - Blinds have been removed from the wall to ceiling windows in the living area which makes it impossible to relax in the apartment during the day - it's far too hot. It looks like blinds are actually being stored in one of the bedroom cupboards, so it's seems like laziness more than anything. We knew about some of the issues beforehand from reading reviews, and took the chance anyway since there was very little accomodation in Sydney for our dates. With some attention to maintenance and cleaning, I think this property could be an 8+.
The apartment itself was a nice layout and good for two people to stay. The location is very residential yet still pretty close to the city.

AustraliaPretty unenjoyable stay overall, the below was communicated with the accom managers who sent a condescending response stating that the issues should not have impacted my stay :| - dust and cobwebs everywhere - bathroom floor was disgusting (stained / mouldy) - stained carpet - marks all over the walls / cupboard doors - broken kitchen tap - broken bin - dirty and rusty toaster - kitchen bench seals dirty / mouldy - blinds shown in advertised images but not provided (it got up to 37 degrees during my stay so this was a massive issue - the floor to ceiling east facing windows meant the place was too hot to stay in) - balcony door does not lock

AustraliaIt was cooler weather when I stayed there which was lovely, but the one warm day was a bit stuffy as there was no air conditioning. But its an older building so understandably this isn't always possible
Very good size accom for the price, really enjoyed the location, and the apartment was beautiful.
