Common areas were not very clean, smelt very damp and made our clothes smell. Quite overcrowded and the other guests not very friendly, lots of long term residents that keep in their cliques or to themselves so not great for social or making friends

Nice pool, staff were really friendly. Beds comfy and plugs by every bed. Hostel bar was good and the food was nice too, and very cheap. Shuttle bus was so handy! Activities on every night.

Nice place to have a good time. The staffs are nice, especially Martin is incredibly helpful, friendly and kind to everyone. The location isn't smack dab in the city center, which it was ok, as I found the shuttle bus service every 30 minutes to be super convenient. It's a quick ride into town, and I loved how easy it was to get around. The variety of activities they offered every day. It kept things interesting and added an extra layer of fun to my stay. Plus, the TV room is a nice touch for chilling out after a long day.

Kitchen is a little small and gets chaotic at meal times with the number of guests trying to cook.

Staff were amazing, and Martin Amor was super helpful and friendly, not only to myself but I noticed to anyone he interacted with, such a gift to Summer House Backpackers Cairns!! The pool was awesome, social areas well set up and beds comfortable 👌

Not enough bathroom in the private room area. Sometimes we had to wait an hour to take a shower. Ants in the room. No towels provided in the private room.

Good place to have a good time. Beach volleyball, pool, $5 happy hour jugs and other attractions. A free shuttle to the city is a great idea. Chilled atmosphere.

The room smelt chemically, the staff were hit or miss as to whether they were friendly or not. The guy that checked us in was really helpful - cant remember his name as was the guy that drove the shuttle. The lady at check out was quite the opposite.

Bingo was a great night just lil bit rude when they called out numbers and like 69 and give the host a high five but was always up at the front table not giving a chance for the people at end table to get a shot felt left out, Also, the shuttle bus needs Major Maintenance as one lost its breaks. It was very scary and unpleasant and un safe, esspeacily when other don't but belts on if the police saw they will be in trouble, if there was a bad accident,

The open area for everyone to have space and chill out where ever and the nightly games to play and programs to get everyone involved

The eating zone is not big, and sometimes when it gets crowded, there's not much space to sit.

The staff were very nice, helpful, and welcoming. Michele helped me a lot with his bright attitude. They have a cleaning routine for everywhere, so it stays clean. I really love the TV room, it's so comfy.

the private bathroom wasn’t really clean and the towel you can get from the reception was full on dirty, the pool looked very milky and not clean at some point, kitchen is a bit small for all the people

the aircon in our room wasn’t working so they put a portable aircon in our room and it was really loud all the time. But they were working on fixing that issue. It’s a bit further from central but it’s still in walking distance.

Great hostel very nice tropical vibe. Pool, hammocks, bar and smoking areas provided a good place to hang out and the people were very nice too. It's a bit far from Cairns centre but there's a free shuttle bus provided by the hostel every 30 minutes.
