Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCould not get the TVs to work and there were a lot of spider webs on the external areas of the barge- such as on the gate to enter the barge and on the upper deck plus a few spider webs such as inside in the living room There was no lighting at night to find the path to access the jetty but it looked like there were solar lights on the ramp of the jetty but they were not working. Was just a bit tricky at times coming back at night in the dark until we got near the jetty gate when the overhead sensor light came on- we navigated our way in the dark with our phone lights.
Location near the wharf and main centre of Goolwa was excellent and being right on the river was superb. Bed was very comfortable and coffee selection great- all of the amenities were lovely. Lovely to sit on the upper deck or in the lounge and watch the river birdlife and traffic. Nice to find croissants on our arrival. Very nice selection of books to read Views from the barge were sublime Within walking distance of main centre of Goolwa for dining, also close drive proximity to areas in and nearby Goolwa which were so seaside picturesque- a lovely part of South Australia.

AustraliaNot suitable for people with limited mobility and a long way to cart your luggage across a paddock to get to it . Entry way was a gangplank with steps and a barrier
Wonderful experience on a restored Dutch barge on the water at Goolwa. Barge was beautifully appointed with everything necessary for an extended stay

AustraliaIt can be a bit noisy when it’s windy (and the parrots are loud) but it is a boat after all so we didn’t mind.
Something different! Had all the facilities you need, hosts were lovely - helpful and friendly when I called as the power went out (which they fixed promptly). Nice breakfast provisions, great shower, comfy bed, lovely decor and it’s dog friendly - couldn’t ask for more!

AustraliaWe were surprised there was no mention of having physical ability to board the Dutch Barge, it would be difficult for the elderly or if not fit.
It was a nice surprise having breakfast supplied, it was delicious. Such a lovely space, we spent much of our time on the Dutch Barge to enable us to really enjoy it. Great location, walking distance to town and very private.

AustraliaI liked everything about the property, however you have to be prepared to experience some rocking on the boat from time to time and some strange boat noises. This did not in any way bother us as it’s a boat at the end of the day!
The location of the property was fantastic, next to the Main Street and at the Wharf with access to a bar and distillery. The decor inside was beautiful with every amenity covered, the owners really thought of all the small details.

Everything was just fabulous!! Very luxurious. Beautifully decked out, cosy, great attention to detail in every way. Well appointed, easy walk into Goolwa, special treats were provided by the hosts & they even managed to arrange some excellent weather!! The morning visit by a trio of ducks was a bit special also! I booked the barge to celebrate a special birthday & then have a few days of pure indulgence-it was everything (& more) that I hoped for. It was perfect & I highly recommend Swamp Fox to those who appreciate something a little different when it comes to holiday/getaway experiences.

AustraliaAbsolutely 10/10 for everything, the houseboat was exceptional, every comfort available, perfect location, beds & bedding were comfortable & plenty of extra coverage not that it was needed at the time I stayed as the weather was perfect, lots of great seating areas for changes in climate, Annie was so lovely when I spoke to her on the phone & answered my emails promptly. The power supply is different then a house on land but if you follow the information provided there will be no problems, air con was lovely but not needed due to the lovely breeze off the Murray, very thoughtful continental breakfast, also coffee pods, tea & sugar etc, great shower. Can easily walk into town for a meal or supplies- 5-10 minute stroll to the start of the shopping precinct, when the sunday markets are on, few minutes walk & you're there👍🙂

Short walk to the wharf and into Goolwa Main Street but private and very quiet for a good night’s sleep. Would definitely stay again!

AustraliaCar parking a fair distance from the accommodation. Unloading meant quite a few return trips to the car to get everything on board. Tricky access to vessel, across an expanse of park lawns, a roughly sloped dirt/grass path down to the private jetty, then a tricky section of walkway to manoeuvre before reaching the boat. One of our group has impaired mobility and uses a walking stick which proved a bit challenging for her. We had trouble with the lights at night which was sometimes dull and sometimes flickered on and off. We were told that the system can become erratic if overloaded but each time we experienced difficulties it was only when we had lights on. We suspect the fault is in the 12V system ie the batteries. Hot water, to the kitchen in particular, took a long time to come through.
An amazing location right on the water, River Murray. Contemporary boutique accommodation with quirky nautical deco all hidden inside a restored Dutch barge. Plentiful selection of breakfast supplies. Locked gatehouse at entrance, with code supplied. We could remain completely isolated for the duration of our stay which provided a safe environment during the peak of SA’s Omicron outbreak!
