Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsI would have loved to have curtains on the beds. But apart from that the rooms are very spacious and the best weren't too close to eachother.
I loved the fact that this accommodation has such a big kitchen, there were like 4/5 stoves and sinks. So a lot of people can cook at the same time. Also view on the rooftop was amazing!!! You can see the CBD, Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Amazing sunrises!

Brunei DarussalamOnly one lift- but this is a minor gripe as the stairs worked just fine! Also I tried the online check- in at the kiosks but it was a really long winded process so ended up going to the desk anyway.
A great 'hostel'. Much more like a hotel except for having to do your own washing up! Continental breakfast was nice- fairly basic (cereals, toast, croissants, yogurt, fruit etc) but plenty of it. Our room was great- nice space for our teenage kids who appreciated having their own curtained off space on their bed. The roof terrace was also fab, drinks good value for money but the view of the opera house was often restricted by a cruise ship. The location was great- walking distance of the harbour and just 300m from the Bridgeclimb.

United KingdomIt has to be the least social hostel I have stayed in. Due to their being a variety of solo, groups, school trips and families it is hard to mix. That is my only negative about this place.
It was the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms, the kitchen, the bathrooms and roof top were always so clean. The staff were lovely too. It has all you could need and amazing price for the perfect location.

United KingdomThe steps to the top bunk were painful.
The rooms were cleaned regularly, the lockers were massive - fit a 23kg suitcase in it. Location was handy - walkable distance to a lot of things. The rooftop bar was AMAZING. That veiw with such affordable accommodation was unexpected. First time in a youth hostel wasn't sure what to expect, but very pleasantly surprised

AustraliaAs above getting to and from YHA with a heavy suitcase and the Cruise Ships. Neither of these situations are in the control of YHA. I have no complaints (in fact only praise) for the actual accommodation - a fabulous location, but it is quite pricey for a room with a view when that view is blocked.
The view from the room was great at night. However, when the Cruise ships were in during the day, the view was completely blocked. From about May onwards the Cruise ships would not be in. The location was fabulous during my stay. The only problem was getting to YHA with a heavy suitcase. I had to walk a considerable distance because I could not manage to carry the case down all the steps that led to Circular Quay - no problem wandering around during the day with just a bag. Breakfast was great, very plentiful

Great location and area! Staff are lovely. There is lots of space in the rooms, bathroom, kitchen, rooftop etc. Bar upstairs is nice to sit and have a wine with a view of the opera house! Saw some fireworks off the roof. Nice mix of people very laid back. Coffee shop / sandwiches and snacks are really tasty.

South KoreaYou could hear footstep noise from the room above. Also, you should bring your own shampoo, toothbrush, etc.
The staffs were nice, and their events held in the rooftop bar were fantastic. Most of all, it was built right over a historic site so you could see them whenever you walk by the corridor.

AustraliaMy room was a little hot one night but was able to ask for the air-con to be turned on in the room so it was better the next night. The water pressure in the shower wasn't very good and kept changing temperature and pressure constantly.
Great Location and wonderful views from the top floor. Love the archeological display on the ground floor as well as the photos located throughout the building. I enjoyed spending some time reading about the history of the Rocks. I wasn't sure about the idea of an app on my phone as a key to the room but it was actually surprisingly good and easy to use.
