How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Mattresses on our twin beds were extremely firm, didn't sleep too well.
I love the location; it's so easy to get here by train, and everything we need is within easy walking distance - shopping, cafes, transport, theatres etc. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Storing bags before or after checkout is not a problem. Rooms are spotless as are the bathrooms and have all the amenities we need for one or two nights.

The signage for the Hotel is different to that of what you advertise. Very hard from the street to pick up.
What breakfast, we were informed that there was no facilities.

These are all very minimal cleaning things, but i know the property is conscious of water use along with most places in Australia. - The sheets weren't cleaned/changed until the end of our 6 day stay despite them being dirty. - Not sure if the bathroom was cleaned because when we'd come back, there was still hair in most places. We were unable to locate the communal kitchen area and would have liked if our cups and spoons were changed over too when we used them because it was evident that they were used.
We enjoyed how local it was to everything. The staff were nice and we always had the beds made and clean towels in the bathroom. Definitely a very cool place to stay with amazing views of the buildings at night. It was great to have a balcony. Although the room is small, the bathroom is very spacious.

We didn't have TV remote, they tried to find one that works with the TV in the room but the first night it didn't work. The next day in the evening we had to ask again and I think the name of the receptionist was Felix who finally got it fixed! Also, in the morning we asked to get the room done and when we came back in the evening we didn't have any towels and we had to ask for them and Felix brought some fresh towels.
Great Location! Town Hall train and light rail just at the corner, 10 min to Circular Quay QVB shopping centre just in front. Very easy to get from and to the Airport Very very good Location!

We booked 3 rooms and 1 room smelled musty (1st floor room) and the smell stayed in the air for the whole time. Other rooms (3rd floor) and everything else was great.
Very pleasant and efficient staff, easy check in and out, great location close to transport and facilities, clean rooms and fairly quiet considering its location in the middle of the city. Have stayed there before and will stay again.

A bit of a sewerage smell from shower pipes but I think that’s the nature of Sydney?!
Central location. Simple bed and ammenities, no fuss! Allowed us to store luggage for half a day. Chrissi made check in and out easy

The bathroom wash basin is prone to water leakage and less hooks to hang clothes

I was assigned a room facing the back of building and did not like the proximity of the other building. Had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. Worse was the thumping music from a pub nearby on Friday and Saturday nights. Not good for light sleepers.
The best thing about this property is it’s location. Right in heart of Sydney CBD area, next to the Queen Victoria Building with shops and eateries all around. Walking distance to the trams and town hall train station which makes it easily accessible to and fro everywhere. Rooms were clean and well kept, though furnishings were a bit dated.

More comfortable beds, and a more inviting communal space for tea/coffee. This area was quite secluded as well, it would be great to have more information on Sydney in this area, too
The room was clean, the bathroom was excellent - spacious and clean. However, the communal space in the hotel was not that inviting, perhaps it requires a bit of a revamp/update. The beds were a little hard, but it was okay to sleep in for one night. The location is fantastic! Close to Darling Harbour, the QVB and Town Hall Station, and Coles and Woolies supermarkets, as well as the tram to Circular Quay.

Very small room with lots of traffic noise.
Perfect location close to rail and bus and across the road from the QVB.
