How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The air conditioning!!! Even though we tried setting it would never go above 10-12 degrees, even though we set it at 25. We almost froze the two nights we were there. It was warmer outside at night (13 degrees!) than in the room. We asked the Concierge if they could fix the problem after the first night. They said they would, but we came back and the room's air conditioning couldn't be warmed still i.e. it hadn't been fixed. With windows not being opened it would have been too stuffy without the air conditioner. Maybe its only Rm 912, but we would be very wary booking with Mercure Central again as it was soooo cold!
Room was clean and neat. Plenty of tea & milk. Showers worked well as did all the bathroom facilities. The multi curtains worked well. The lifts were particularly fast and plentiful. The breakfast was super. The location was perfect for what we wanted to go to.

There was nothing I was disappointed with or upset about.
For my needs, the location of this property is outstanding. The staff are friendly and helpful. I have stayed here many times and see no reason to change.

The frosted glass for the bathroom door. Not good with a family with ages ranging from 10 to 16. Chairs were limited with a few parents watching the children swim.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast a a variety of Gluten Free options. Very close to public transport and a short walk to a shopping centre. Children enjoyed swimming in the pool and the view.

A later check-out is always appreciated!
The location was fantastic as it was close to Central station and also to the Capitol Theatre where we saw a performance. The optional breakfast was good value for money, with the children being at no cost.

The location made our 2 days so easy. The pool was refreshing. The room was comfy, we requested 2 extra pillows to our liking and they were delivered to our room quickly! The breakfast exceptional!

I would have liked an extra pillow and blanket in the room.
Very convenient location for public transport near Central station and right next to Railway Square. We enjoyed happy hour at the bar. Nice staff, nice room and nice to have fresh towels every day. Great that there is an on site restaurant too

Coffee machine wasn’t working for breakfast which caused chaos at breakfast time and feel that if you pay for breakfast that the facilities should be serviced and management should make sure things important like the coffee ☕️ machine work.

I found the pillows on the bed a little flat/lacking. If I was staying for more than one night I think it would have been an bigger issue. But over all I enjoyed my stay.
Stayed here for one night to attend a concert. Cannot get a better location for accessing public transport such as trains and busses as it's right next to Central station. Also easy to get to and from the Murray's busses as I was travelling from Canberra. Staff were very pleasant and made check in/out easy. Room was exceptionally quiet. The shower had good pressure and temperature. I liked all of the ports for charging devices. I also really liked the colourful room lighting!

The line for breakfast was long. We had to check out early and we felt in stress. I would recommend finding a different way to manage many guest in the "rush hour"
Breakfast was good, for kids we found various of options Coffee machine was great. Staff was very helpful and friendly
