The Tanah Marah came highly recommended by our friend and it did not disappoint! We loved the sunrise and sunset overseeing the lake from the Verandah, taking walks in the bushland, and seeing sheep and birds roaming around. It is clear the owner takes great pride in upkeeping this vast property. And, it's only 10 min drive from town! They were right, the 2km of dirt road was worth it! We also loved the comfy beds, modern and well-equipped kitchen (oven, dish washer, and BBQ included), great amenities (great coffee, eco-friendly lotions, sunscreen, extra blankets, fluffy bathrobes), baby friendliness (high chair, plastic bowls, cups and plates, baby bathtub, extra baby cot), and great laundry facilities on site. One could also play tennis, golf, and kayak on the lake. We didn't try the boat or kayak as we didn't want our little kids go on the lake without life jackets. But confident swimmers can try. We were able to truly relax and were giddy the whole time. Thank you for opening the doors to us, Linda, Lucy and families!

Having to leave. Nothing, this place is a hidden gem.

This property is perfect, it is situated far enough away from the main road that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but close enough that it is easy to explore the surrounding areas. From the moment we arrived our host Lucy made us feel like we were part of the Tanah Marah family and she loves sharing her property and its story with you. The accommodation is excellent with everything you need and an amazing view that will have you wanting to stay longer.

The chalets were perfect for our family of 4. Modern and clean, with everything you need (including a BBQ) - and a stunning property to walk around, kayak or swim in the dam, and play with the owners’ dogs. Only minutes away from Margaret River township with supermarkets, restaurants and cafes etc. The owners were great and made staying an absolute pleasure!

Would be happier to get more coffee. Also, the kitchen might need some blinds too. Somebody was walking in the dark with a torch, felt a bit awkward. To me personally, pillows were too high profile so the second night I ended up folding some blanket and using it as a pillow and slept well. Meant to bring my own pillow but forgot. ------ >None of these comments are a deal breaker. Just suggestios and thoughts.

Its a very beautiful area, well kept, quiet, and private. The owner is very welcoming and natural. Kayaks, paddle boards, tennis courts, and golf are included. Friendly sheep and cows and food for them provided. The lake right in front of the house is stunning. Kitchen has everything that we need. BBQ and fireplace outside. Seating area outside with a table and cushions. Lawn super well-maintained, and nice to walk on. Working TV with an antenna, had usb ports to watch our own movies, or they had dvds provided, or books to read. Milk in the fridge. Double shower in one of the bathrooms for 2 people. Aircon worked perfectly. Blinds for more privacy. Was told that there is a washing machine and a dryer, didnt need to use it but its an awesome addition in case staying longer.

Heaven on Earth with a chance to bond with Nature!

Truly nothing, everything was lovely. Only issue if you can’t fully “disconnect” from the world. There is no service in the chalet itself but there’s is a 24hr quick Wi-Fi in the visitor Center. Hence not suitable if you can’t truly “disconnect “ . I actually loved it as it forced me to disconnect and truly just enjoy the experience. Something I didn’t experience since I was young.

If there was a heaven on earth, I am pretty sure Tanah Marah comes close to that description. Where do I even start? First of all, the view when you open your chalet facing the pristine and beautiful lake in the morning sunlight along with the smell of fresh grass definitely takes away stress and brings you back to Nature. Secondly the support and friendliness of the host, especially Lindy and Lucy. Of course the fury support friends Panda, Annie and Milly. I never had a pet in my life, but the fury friends will make you felt like you had them your whole life. There is a stream of activities that will keep you in touch with nature. Might it be running, kayaking in the lake, feeding the sheeps and cows or just hiking. You can also see kangaroo and other wild animals. Truly a testament of great hospitality and great Australian nature. 3 days 2 nights were too short for our family at the end. Would come back to this place 100% if we are ever back In Margaret River. I would highly suggest anyone visiting the area to book Tanah Marah in a heartbeat!

    Nothing we didn’t like

Beautiful property and surroundings. Spacious villas with two bedrooms/bathrooms. Good sized kitchen and great outdoor bbq. We loved the drive into the property each time we returned from an outing. Feels quite secluded even though it’s still quite close to the main town of Margaret river. Our toddler loved seeing the kangaroos everyday and feeding the sheep. Was a very comfortable stay.

We love the facilities they provide. From a private outdoor fireplace, bbq, bathrobe to the communal entertainment like golf, fireplace, kayak, boat, paddleboard, library, gym. They really does make a huge difference. There’s so much to do!

The only negative to this property is the 2km unsealed road. Had we known about this, we would have bought a different car.

The location of this beautiful property was perfect. Very secluded amongst the forest, yet only 5 minutes from the centre of Margaret River. The accommodation was great for a family of four with two separate wings either side of the main living area. The hosts were so lovely to deal with (even when we locked ourselves out of the cabin!)
