How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nice, peaceful relaxing location. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mata, Michael and Sharleen, rooms are clean and comfortable, great pizzas in the relaxed restaurant. Easy drive to both Bitter Springs and Mataranka Springs and about an hour drive to Katherine to enjoy the Gorge cruises.

Lovely cool pool with tubes for public use, and $2 mini bottles of wine at the bar! Cheap drinks and meals made for a super relaxed weekend away at Mataranka and Bitter Springs. Cute rammed earth hotel rooms. The campgrounds looked fantastic. The bar was. Great with festoon lights and relaxed vibe for the whole family. Owners were friendly, up for a chat, and welcoming. Will definitely return!

The motel rooms are dark and are lacking those thoughtful extras that as a traveller you often take for granted, things like hooks, clothes rails and somewhere off the floor, other than on the bed, to place your bags. Another key issue is that there is no sink in the small kitchenette area, so you have to wash mugs and plates in the bathroom sink. There is a communial kitchen area outside where we guess you are expected to do this, but it would be nicer to be self-contained given that there is room in the space to do this. The bed mattress could have been more comfortable.
We've stayed here before and love the location as its so close to Bitter Springs. The bar/restaurant is great. The food is excellent and the staff are welcoming and happy. The campsites are great (although we stayed in the motel rooms on this occation). The rooms are rammed earth and stay cool during the heat of the day.

Sheets etc clean and I understand that frogs can’t be controlled but more effort to minimise insects. There was a lot of insect eggs/dead bugs etc in the tea.
Late check in which was easy with the lock box.

Could have shade over car park, food was over done and could install yellow lights outside each room so as to not attract insects.

A few minor maintenance issues in the bathrooms is the only reason for a lower score for facilities.
The staff were extremely friendly and loved a chat. The satay lamb pizza was delicious and more than enough for two people.

No Wifi access in our room only in the restaraunt.

Staff wasn't very welcoming. Same staff at reception and serving for dinner. The meal, Thai curry, was so spicy hot I couldn't eat it..managed 3 mouthfuls and i dont mind spicy food.. She asked if it wasn't to my liking, I said no and explained why, and the response I got was that was a shame. Ordered, and paid full price for my garlic bread for my dinner instead. In hindsight I should have made her try it. No warning that it would burn your lips and clear your sinuses. We would've spent more time there, and more money, if it wasn't for the attitude. No seating in the rooms, only 2 chairs outside.. and only 2 plates . sleeps 4.
The beds were comfy. It was quiet. Pool was lovely. The restaurant setting was nice. Easy to find.

Nothing much really. All ok.
I have stayed there a few times before and it has always been clean and comfortable. Food is also nice and good value. The re-furbishment of the bathrooms is good.

Bed dated it was uncomfortable and to close to floor. Shower drainage was to slow the water ran over the whole bathroom floor, Air conditioning made a noise after it was turn up to 24. Could hear people arriving throughput night.
