Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe 2nd floor aisle could have been more welcoming: cold lights, clouds of perfume and A/C at full blast
Fantastic location in the heart of Newcastle. Comfortable room with lots of space and a balcony with view on the beer garden. Hotel has a good vibe both on weekdays and at the weekend.

AustraliaThe hotel needs a coat of paint - and when that happens there will be a lovely aesthetic to the place.
The bed was comfortable. The room was well equipped with a kettle, microwave, ironing board and hair dryer. So easy to travel when this is available, The check in fellow was friendly and helpful. The hotel was a fantastic location for our needs as we had a show to see at the Civic Centre. The restaurant and bar on site was fabulous!

AustraliaBeing in the first floor, the balcony was not very usable and did not have the advertised outlook. The view was straight into the outdoor dining area and bins. The number for room service did not work so had to order at the bistro itself.
Excellent location, close to public transport and sights. Generally clean and comfortable. The pub/bistro had great food and service.

AustraliaThe room wasn't huge, but very comfortable. We didn't unpack, staying only overnight.... but there is a cupboard to take clothes. I would've liked a stool or chair to set clothes out, especially in the bathroom - Only one towel rail to hold towel plus pj's, or another towel. The door to shower is quite large, and opens to 90 degrees against the toilet bowl, which could be awkward... But the shower is lovely .
Excellent sleep : windows were double-glazed, so no disturbance, even though we overlooked the main road. Lovely shower room, spacious, and good sink size. We ate in the Restaurant, which had a great vibe, and the BEST Mushroom PIZZA I have EVER tasted!

AustraliaRoom was small so only room for a double bed. Bathroom also small. But for a short stay it was fine.
Was delighted with the fact that this was more of a suite than a room, & had a small balcony. It is an old hotel that has been renovated nicely & the small living area with a desk was great. We enjoyed having a drink in the pub downstairs before going out for dinner. It is right on the tram line in the centre of town so a convenient location but, even on a Friday night, we were not disturbed by any outside noise.

AustraliaIf I was nitpicky, perhaps an option for breakfast! Also parking was a bit of an issue but in the city there is limited parking with hotels. Street parking is around or use the parking lot nearby for $$'s.
The Clarendon is right in the heart of Newcastle. Right near the river so you can jump on a pathway and go for a morning jog or walk. The rooms are spacious and it was like a little apartment rather than a hotel room.

AustraliaBrighter room than I'm used to while sleeping. Didn't realise there was a main switch to power lights. Shower leaked water. Absolute minimal things!
The location was my absolute favourite! The light rail was close and very convenient. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and the drinks were great too. The outdoor beer garden was such a vibe with very friendly staff across the venue. Such great value for money. Would definitely stay again.

AustraliaBed was a little too firm but that's personal taste, others may love it. Take earplugs as there is are loud church bells nearby that chime on the hour all through the night.
Room was spacious and location was perfect for attending a concert at the Civic Theatre. Meals are delicious downstairs and staff are excellent.
