How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Initially the reception staff member was a bit aloof, maybe because we are mature aged and not typical backpackers - he could have been a but more welcoming but definitely wasn't rude. The barrista was lovely, though. We will go back.
Gorgeous property, amazing for a backpackers. Wonderful location and value for money was great. We had a double room with an ensuite, almost love a hotel room, just without a lift. TV or fridge. Dog friendly too, which is wonderful. Easy walking distance to main streets and the beach, and found a park just out the front. Highly recommended.

Room was quite dark and not much natural light.
Very modern, female only bathrooms were modern and spacious. The breakfast was really good for not much extra with a choice of toasties, waffles and granola with a coffee included! It wasn’t as loud as expected and very close to central St Kilda.

Reception staff. One big guy specifically who was there 29/04 afternoon. Not friendly, arrogant and not helpful. Made it so difficult to check in

Price : too expensive! A bit far from the CBD but there are 2 trams station 150m away, so it’s easy. It’s seems there’s no supermarket close.
Very Clean. Kitchen and bathroom often cleaned up. Soap provided. There is a “free food “ box to share. Very very important when you see the bad behaviour of people with food !! Bed with curtains for intimacy. Hostel friendly with many different Common rooms. Quiet area. Small shops around.

The noise, some rooms on the ground floor are very to close to the reception and the bar. Impossible to sleep before midnight. Also, the kitchen is not adapted for so many backpackers . Fridge where full and the side sink always full
I like the design, the coffee shop and the work space, the staff is very helpful and friendly.

The stair I kept in tripping on near reception (looks like it is cracked and/or warped). Understand that they are pretty friendly, but there was a dog left alone in the room across from me all day, constantly barking until their owners returned late at night. Made it difficult to relax during the afternoon in my room.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and loved that they said hello and goodbye each day whilst using my name. Staff were extremely helpful.

Some of the lazy staff. Dirty common area, specially the kitchen.
The bed was clean and comfortable. The location was good for what I needed. Great value for the money I paid.

Everything is clean, except for the kitchen, where mostly of guests don't clean after themselves and leave all the dirty pans and cooking pots in the sink. Making hostel staff wash it for them, I guess.
Very nice hostel in Saint Kilda, excellent location. Staff is kind and efficient. The whole hostel looks new and clean. Bedrooms and beds are super comfortable and equipped. It has many common areas for you to find a quiet space. It has a bar and also a cafe in the mornings. Very complete. I highly recommend this hostel.

No air conditioning is available in the dormitory rooms, and the bathrooms need minor repairs.
The dorm rooms were fantastic! They had comfortable beds, secure storage, and were located near the beaches and city. The best part was that we could play Nintendo Wii on the first floor by the bar with our friends from all over the world but sadly there was no Mario Kart game available. Board games and a beer pong table were also available for additional fun!

The top bunks don’t have much head room and are a bit small. There is no laundry facilities here you have to walk down the street
Coffee at breakfast is so good, good sized kitchen and showers. Enough space in the rooms to put bags and lay stuff out. I liked the all female dorms
