Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe went to the pool the 1st afternoon. Approx 5PM. The state of the pool and the surrounds were disgusting. There was rubbish everywhere. There was tissues and baby wipes IN the pool. Empty plastic glasses on the tables. Paper bags behind the sun beds where you walk etc etc. Large pieces of chewing gum on the sides of the pool. Nineteen was closed for a private function. I would have thought that as we were a resident of the hotel we would get preference over a once a year function. Part of the bar should have been open for residents to order drinks from.
The room was amazing! The location and room were amazing! The location of the pool was spectacular.

AustraliaPaying to stay for 4 nights and not being allowed to use your facilities because we have our necks tattooed. Extremely discriminatory and disgusting way to treat guests. We are not criminals nor deserve to be made to feel that way by your establishment. We do not blame your friendly staff. Just crap casino.
The only thing we appreciated were the friendly valet staff.

AustraliaWe arrived at 3.15pm to check in as normally it is a 2.00pm Checkin. Our room was not ready until 3.45pm. CHeckout is still 11.00am. Given checkin is at 3.00pm, you would think check out would be an hour later. But when you turn up & your room at in excess of $750 per night is not ready, it throws away a hole day as from 2.00pm onwards you are making way for hotel. No word that check in would not be available at 3.00pm either. We had word that check in could be 2.00pm, through a request but had no further notice in regards to our request as we had requested.
We wanted to organize Breakfast in room. But the QR code app didnt work.

AustraliaFor $4.5k it wasn't the nicest hotel I've stayed at. No extra pillows were supplied, no extra blankets either, the bed's were quite soft and there were no full sized bins within the room. Further, the rooms were far from sound proof - I could hear the music from the casino (7 floors down from me).
I liked the cleanliness of the hotel, and the amenities available (e.g. the beautiful pool, the spa bath in my room, the casino). The staff were very nice and accommodating and the valet made it feel that extra bit luxurious.

Australiathe breakfast in the hotel was a complete disappointment. Breakfast (1x main and 2x drinks) was included in the package we booked. For the star rating of the property providing a continental breakfast a la carte for $45 was incredibly over priced. The food was not cooked properly, when this was raised with the restaurant they were rude about it. The bar staff in Nineteen were hostile on our visit and we would NEVER dine in this restaurant or order drinks around the pool again. The staff should be ashamed.
The location was great, in proximity to the attractions we wanted to visit. The room was spacious and very clean with regular cleaning and turn down services. We celebrated our anniversary at this hotel they helped us celebrate by offering us a free bottle of house champagne on arrive, that was a nice touch. the rooms were very modern and the decor was beautiful. the balcony was great with ocean views.

AustraliaThe staff were could do with some lessons in hospitality. They weren't really friendly and didn't make us feel welcome with the exception of one lady in reception. The room service was slow and the food was overpriced and ordinary. I didn't like that I had to order the food via my scanning app.
The hotel was beautiful and clean. Our room upgraded which was a nice surprise.

AustraliaService was very slow for 2 drinks from the mini bar (like in house dining)- took 40 minutes to arrive to our room. This was after the QR code not displaying the full menu, and 2 phone calls. We dined at The Garden and I ordered what I thought was a special but in the fine print (and in very dim lighting) it only applied to bronze members so I ended up paying $30 more and then it wasn’t such a good deal. It was very deceptive advertising and not once did staff ask or check whether I was a bronze member or outline that the deal price was for this membership.
Beautiful huge hotel room. Very luxurious.

AustraliaStaff. We were judged, ridiculed, literally laughed at and IGNORED by staff. The waiter at Nineteen added extra drinks to our group booking and continued to open and pour wine after what we ordered had run out, failing to mention he would open another bottle. Upon arrival, the concierge asked several if we were specifically staying at the Darling, assuming we weren't. He was not doing it in a helpful manner. The following day, the concierge got into an argument with one of the other guests staying (a party to us, also staying at the Darling) to the point that NO ONE in customer service, let alone hotel staff, should raise their voice at a guest. Due to this mans ignorance and clear mistake he refused to fix (ordering the correct number of Maxi taxis) we almost missed our function on a boat. It ruined the entire day, we were there for celebration. The irony of not being believed to be staying at the Darling (the staff presumed the Star Grand) is that the ONE couple who did stay at The Grand, (out of 5 couples that stayed), is actually a black card member with the casino and he and his wife had their hotel room for free. You couldn't pay me to return.
The hotel room was nice and to be expected of a Star hotel. It was clean, however nothing made up for the absolutely horrible staff, at every corner.

AustraliaService/communication could have been better/clearer. Whilst the website advertises parking for guests, there are multiple car parks on site and no clear instructions for where Darling guests should park (we called and confirmed that parking is valet). We also booked with breakfast included in the room rate but the website didn't state that breakfast had to actually be booked in advance. When we did get to breakfast we weren't advised that certain things were not included and were charged $13 for a side of toast and sausage. For the price of the rooms we would have expected this to be included or at least be given a clear explanation of what is and is not included. It was rather embarrassing to have someone chase us as we headed to the lift to advise us we hadn't paid. There were 2 baths in the suite but we could not find any bath salts or bubble bath, which we have found at other luxury stays and would have been a nice touch. Fortunately we had brought our own. Overall the accommodation was nice but compared to other luxury stays there were just a few extra touches missing unfortunately and for this reason we couldn't justify the price.
We were delighted to have our room upgraded from a standard to penthouse suite at no cost as a kind gesture to celebrate our anniversary, which made up for our wedding being cancelled due to Covid. Room was very clean and quiet with a great view. Convenient location.
