Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was no problem at all, however I can imagine some guests might find the historical building and facilities not as modern as they prefer or expect. I call it "character" and loved the rustic ambience!
We were travelling in the area and needed last minute accommodation. The booking site gave a number of options. We chose the cheapest. Arrived at the premises before the online booking showed up on the hotel's system! The staff member, Roco(?) was very pleasant. Once confirmed we were shown to our two rooms and had the facilities pointed out. We ate at the hotel, upstairs on the veranda. The food was delicious and service friendly and organised. The beds in the twin & double rooms were comfortable. Location was right in the town centre.

AustraliaBooked two rooms for a night away with the kids and it was just what we needed. As long as you don’t mind shared bathrooms and no TV. The bathrooms are old but work fine. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. Could only faintly hear the music from the bar. Would recommend for a great budget option

AustraliaAll kitchen amenities supplied except plates. A little hack I've used here and at other such places, even a couple of fancy hotels where I've gotten room service to bring up a bowl so I can eat the breakfast cereal I brought or gone to a supermarket and bought disposable plates is to bring your own bowl if you want to have cereal with your tea or coffee when you get up which I did. No wardrobe which the rooms aren't really big enough for but between the hooks on the back of the door and the funny foldable chair thing which you need to put a pillow on to sit on comfortably are workable although that's for one person, I don't know how two would go. An incidental table as well as the bedside tables which helps a lot, these are new as are the ceiling fans which have been updated since I last stayed although I couldn't work out how to turn them on. Which wasn't a problem, it wasn't that hot and opening my window an inch was enough as the room got a bit stuffy otherwise. I personally love the old bathrooms and showers, find old things nostalgic and emotional myself. The showers aren't that huge, I'm small and it's ok for me but I don't know how bigger people would fare. Still, I think the Daylesford Hotel has 80% of what you want and have rated it accordingly. What it slightly lacks in amenity it makes up for in warmth and cosiness.
They're really nice, cosy rooms, the king sized beds are really comfortable. The high ceilings and view over the balcony are really nice as are the staff in the bar, very friendly and helpful. The old pub is a beautiful old building with a relaxing, serene vibe. The hallway with floorboards and rug has a nice, cosy historic country vibe I've seen in a similar place in Launceston which I really like and the old kitsch paintings hanging in the bathrooms are a nice touch. Checkout is a generous 11am, I was running late after a restless night's sleep, was finishing off in the bathroom until nearly 11:45am and didn't see a sign of the cleaners so I really appreciate that.

Australia- Would’ve preferred a private bathroom but toilet/ bathroom facilities were close by and secure - Would’ve preferred a private kitchenette but again, the kitchen was very close by and very clean - There was a ceiling fan but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on, but wasn’t a huge issue because the window was easy to open up and brought in a nice amount of fresh air
-Very easy and straight forward to access, bed was comfortable and the design and furnishings was old fashioned but still kept well, locks on the doors were secure. - kitchenette and bathrooms were communal but very well kept and clean

AustraliaA bigger sink in the ladies toilet. Thought the little one was vey retro. A safe electric wall heater in the room. I was worried our bedding could fall on the fan heater. More power points in the room. The one PowerPoint had 2 power boards operating from it. It didn’t look very safe.
We liked the friendly staff who were happy to help with requests such as extra blankets. Loved the live music in the bar. Everyone was singing along and dancing. The food was delicious.
