Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt’s still undergoing renovations, which is well-publicised, and not any real inconvenience. There was a bit of anti-social activity outside, but felt secure and safe as a solo female traveller. Ample parking right outside entrance.
Bedroom opened out directly onto a gigantic traditional old federation style balcony with terrific outlook down iconic Hannan Street one way and bushland towards Mt Charlotte another. Right next door to the museum, and walking distance to restaurants, shops and tourist bureau. Was recently used as the set for the outback Australian series Mystery Road… Such a great example of a Kalgoorlie Gold-rush era hotel. Good to see it returning to circulation/use!

AustraliaI was unaware until check in, that the “pub” part of the property is not open, as it is getting renovated, hence I was a little disappointed- would have liked some communication about that prior to booking. Otherwise very happy - staff was super friendly and bed very comfy.
Great old pub building with a lot of atmosphere. Once the renos are finished, it will be awesome to go downstairs for a cold beer after a hot day’s sight seeing.

AustraliaAs this stay was the first night of paying customers, there were things that were still not quite finished, but no doubt will be as soon as practicable. One thing being that there were no power points to plug in the provided lamp or somewhere to recharge a personal device.
This hotel is in the process of being renovated and refurbished after apparently being in a state of abandonment. The new owners have done a magnificent job in getting it to its current functional state. They are still working on the kitchen and bar and no doubt these areas will be as good as what has already been achieved in their accommodation areas. The room and especially the bed were very comfortable. All areas such as a communal kitchen with a sink, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities, and the shared toilet/bathroom were clean and modern.

Dining rooms and public bar are being renovated. Not open. There is a kitchenette with jug, toaster and microwave tea and coffee, must airs for guests.

AustraliaNot having air-con at home, it took me several minutes to turn-on the air-con, and I'm not sure which button in the panel did it. So, some instructions would be helpful.
Well-presented room and shared bathroom. Air-con quickly cooled the room from the 40 degrees outside. Appreciate the small fridge in the room to cool water and other drinks. Sunset and sunrise views from the balcony. Although I came by train, the building does provide shaded parking in the afternoon for those driving.

AustraliaThe rooms are all upstairs, and the stairs themselves felt slightly uneven at times. It's not a serious problem, but be sure to use the hand rail! Having to use a shared bathroom wasn't ideal, but to be expected given the cost of the room.
Very comfortable space for what I paid. Location was quiet and generally pleasant, but not so far from amenities/shops that I couldn't walk. The small number of rooms meant there were not too many guests at any one time, making the shared bathroom space more than sufficient.

AustraliaA bar and a restaurant were two pre requisites for our first visit to Kalgoorlie. But these were not operational due to serious renovations (which was not specified in the advertisement), though I believe, due to tradie schedules, was delayed. Our room was sparesly furnished, narrow, though did have doors onto a balcony.
Location too far from anywhere except Mt Charlotte. The colonial style exterior was pleasing and renovations inside looked promising.

AustraliaMy colleagues arrived and soon after left. They were Elderly board members who were not able to walk between floors to visit the showers or toilets especially during the evening. They were not aware of the renovations and were a long distance from anywhere that sold food or amenities. We quickly had to find alternative accommodation. You received our money for nothing
