How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Maybe using stairs but that was expected. Not enough cutlery to use in kitchen. Could be more paper towel to use in kitchen. Also only one very damp tea towel for wiping dishes dry. Should have been more tea towels in a drawer.
Easy to find. Very close to Hamilton Railway Station.

Carpet in room needed cleaning. TV didn't work. If main door in bathroom was locked, you can't access either toilet.

A couple of guests, obviously did not enjoy their stay at the Newy. Gay phobia, covid phobia ? Well go back to your "tunnel vision" and even f--- off !
Reminded me of vintage 1980s Sydney, The Exchange etc. People who are considered "different"? So what, who cares !

Kitchen a bit messy and no milk for cereal, maybe not hotels fault but untidy guests.
Room was neat and tidy.A bit noisy but woke up refreshed.Manageress was friendly apologetic for not having room up to standard.Shower was fabulous with plenty of hot water.

There are a few sockets and the fan makes noise
The reception staff are very kind and will come to resolve any issues immediately after check-in. Parking is very convenient

Stayed in bunk bed room with 2 sets of bunks. Only 2 of us in the room as we wanted the extra space. Not a chance I would have trusted the top bunks to be able to hold the weight of anyone as they are unsturdy and cheap. Everytime I moved during the night the bunks squeaked loudly. The carpet in the entire venue needs proper cleaning and/or replacing as it stinks. A mirror in the room would have been helpful. 1 small mirror in the corner of the ladies bathroom was useless to attempt to get ready. And lighting to put on make up etc

We stayed on the weekend so the sound ended up being quite loud, but we were warned and everything was fine despite that we slept well.
Friendly staff. The room, bathroom and kitchen were clean and the atmosphere is cozy. Well located with good facilities nearby. Fair price.

A liqueur the pub promotes heavily. Firewater! Misunderstanding re late checkout. Some staff were unaware. LOOOONG WALK TO TOILET from my room. On the other hand I was close to the kitchen. )
Friendly efficient staff. Lots of varied live music. Interesting, friendly Argentine travellers met in well stocked share kitchen. They were still celebrating the Wirld Cup win. Viva Messi! I enjoyed listening to the bands & DJs in my bed. (I'm serious - for me that's luxury & I love live music. Punk pop , techno, karaoke - this was a great weekend of pub.music & I could just wander down to have a look.if I liked.

The bunk beds looked super unstable. Whenever one would move (even the one at the bottom) the whole thing would shake and I thought it would fall over when I climbed up. The breakfast was just some bread and cereal (but the cereal were not even identified, bad for people with allergies). You have to keep in mind that your on top of a bar so if you're not in the mood to party or if you're a light sleeper, I would not recommend it.
The rooms were nice and relatively clean. So were the bathroom and kitchen. Also good staff.

Package included breakfast, but this was more use of cereal in the shared kitchen, rather than a cooked meal.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, and shared toilet/bathroom area was clean as well. Bed was comfy, and getting into secured rooms was a simple process. The hotel was central to main thoroughfare, but not right on top of it, so I found it very well placed.
