Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDenis was really welcoming and engaging. The staff were really helpful. Wonderfully clean and quiet. Didn't expect the incredible sound-proofing and the lovely balcony. We had hoped to use the hot tub, but it was temporarily out of action. The Gaylord restaurant is world class; Indian, fresh, innovative, delicious! We plan to come back with a big group. The hotel's location is fantastic: 2 tram lines at the doorstep.

AustraliaAbsolutely nothing to dislike
This was my second stay here, and it was just wonderful. Denis is a fabulous host, very charming and delightful and remembers all the smallest details. The other staff are fantastic too, though I didn't interact with them beyond a friendly "hello" whenever I came and went. The facilities are great, and "the most expensive bed in the hotel" was utterly sublime! My huge room was well stocked with a library of books, which had everything from classic novels to biographies to gardening guides. Room 439 is my absolute favourite now! I'm looking forward to returning again soon. (The "lobby" photo included here is of the books)

AustraliaThis place oozes old world charm from the moment of arrival. I left my bags at the hotel as I arrived before check in. They took them up to my room and called me when the room was ready. When I arrived in my room, there was a card welcoming me to the hotel and some chocolates. Such a lovely touch. I loved my large room with its kitchen, dining area and lovely bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and I loved being able to open the windows and go out on the balcony. Even though it is located in such a busy area, the noise was usually well-muffled by the double glazing. Don’t forget to visit the Grand Staircase.

United StatesThere were no power outlets at desk, surprisingly not uncommon. There was an extension cord/power strip near the TV which I repurposed. Don't recall any other issues.
Room was spacious and 6th floor was quiet. Many units in building are regular rentals but this was only apparent if someone was moving in/out. Laundry was bonus.

AustraliaThe train line running behind our room, still quite noisy even with the extra thickness on the windows.
Nice big room on three levels with high ceilings, very comfortable seating and bed. A nice touch was a hand written card welcoming us to the hotel and some Lindt chocolates left in our room. Enjoyed the pool and spa. The location was close to most things we wanted to do and see.

AustraliaThe bathroom sink is too small, limited cooking utensils and no bowls for soup.
Centrally located, close to tram and train stations. Staff are amazing! Lindt chocolates with hand written welcome card are a beautiful touch. Fully equipped kitchen, espresso machines, dishwasher, great for long stays. We stayed 5 nights here during the Grand Prix, short walk to Spencer street station to catch the tram, perfect!

AustraliaThere truly is not a thing I don’t like about staying at The Grand.
The short distance to Southbank, the double glazing windows and doors to the balcony, the wonderful greeting each time we entered the building. Lindt Chocolates and a handwritten card from Dennis always makes me feel like an important individual. The wonderful history of the building and how it’s been maintained.
