Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomKitchen and dining room.far too small. Not enough fridge space for the number of people. Lift very slow to respond. Cleaning in the toilets and showers was done at getting up time, judf when people are all likely to want to use them.
Great friendly staff. Lovely old building. Private room was a good size, though no option for en suite we never had an issue getting a shower or using the loo when we wanted too. Unfortunately the kitchen and dining room were far too small for the number of people using them though. Good to he given a cool bag to keep stuff separate in the fridge. Great location for Botanic Gardens and a nice walk to the harbour and Circular Quay.

I haven’t seen a hostel like the pacific house yet. The rooms are clean, beds have curtains, own lights and lots of plugs everywhere. Breakfast offers a variety of different food, even gluten-free. You have a lot of space to store your belongings. There are events every day and especially the Cogge to Bondi walk and the wine and chees eve are great. The stuff is always welcoming and nice. You have the roomkey on your phone, so you don’t have to take a keycard with you. The kitchen is ordered and really clean. Bathrooms are modern with huge rainfall showers and separate Toilettes. So there’s privacy everywhere but you also have chance to get in contact with the other travelers.

United KingdomThe hostel doesn't provide towels, which can be a bit of a pain if, like me, you want to travel as light as possible. Also, the bedside socket is only a standard USB (so make sure you have one), and even then the connection can be a bit unreliable.
PH is an excellent place to stay for backpackers travelling along Australia's East Coast. The place has a welcoming, communal vibe, helped by the friendliness of the staff, and loads of great facilities and amenities (kitchen, lounge room, study room, etc.) The showers/bathrooms in particular are fantastic: well-designed, spacious and clean, and even though there are only six on each floor (3 men's, 3 women's), I never had to wait for one. The beds are comfy, a really good size and have great privacy curtains. The lockers are also really spacious and secure. The location is also very good, only a 5/10 mins walk from the city centre and a 10/15 mins walk to the Opera House. The bus to Bondi Beach is also only about 10/15 mins in the other direction. Definitely a super place to stay for solo or group travellers

AustraliaThe refrigerator in the kitchen is disorganized and cluttered. There is a need for better organization. Additionally, the beds in the rooms lack numbering, which could result in your bed being cleared even if you haven't checked out yet. Furthermore, the workspace is cramped and becomes crowded very quickly. An outdoor area would be much appreciated.
Amazing hostel next to a tranquil area and close to the heart of Woolloomooloo, one of the most peaceful areas in Sydney. Warm and kind staff, always willing to help and build a friendly connection beyond client-customer. Comfy beds, spacious rooms and common areas always impeccable.

FranceThe kitchen was large but very quickly overloaded at peak times, with half the hotplates usable with the width of the pans. Breakfast was good, with several choices of cereals, normal or vegetable milk, several choices of sandwich bread and jam, Nutella, peanut butter, but it’s miss fruit juice and simply fruit. Powdered coffee and tea were available, but a jar of powdered chocolate would be nice. Apart from these small details, my stay went very well and I'd definitely recommend the Pacific in the future.
Very good location and a very attentive and super nice staff!!!! The parts of hostel are cleaned every day so it's very clean. Many activities and different areas to relax! The rooms are good, with many storage space. The beds are comfortable and the curtains allow a certain privacy.
