We did not like the 2 hour timer for the air conditioner / heater . Nights were relatively chilly for us , but it was very disruptive to our sleep when we had to wake up and stumble in the dark twice or 3 times a night to reset the timer . Water is pressure was sometimes low and the hot water took a while to flow. Although we kept our doors shut , there were mosquitoes in the room and toilet which were annoying as the buzzing also disrupted our sleep . Also , as a matter of principle , we booked and paid specifically for a superior king suite ( which was described clearly as a slightly larger corner king room) . But we were put into a slightly smaller intermediate room , even when we had booked about 3-4 weeks early .

Proximity to cafes and wineries, although you would need a car to get around more conveniently . Property was very private and quiet. Host provided a list of cafes and wineries near-by and helped with some of the bookings , which was very helpful. Good that the host looked in on us the day after our arrival and also as we were leaving .

We arrived late so didn't meet any staff but received clear instructions for entry to our room. Due to an error, we were billed twice but this was corrected promptly when we advised Booking.com of the error.

Not sure I could rate this more highly, its a lovely lodge in a beautiful area. The owner left marshmallows, wine and a whole host of extras including a fire pit set up and ready to go. The accommodation is within walking distance of Mccafreys winery which I'd recommend

The aircon is on a 2 hour timer, which is understandable but makes it uncomfortable on hot nights. You have to keep getting up through the night to turn it on again.

The property is beautifully quaint and well equipped with facilities to enjoy all year around. Jo was there to greet us when we arrived and made us feel at home with a warm welcome.

Great place. Quiet surroundings, only the sounds of nature, in the morning kangaroos move near the houses. Very nice rooms, comfortable bed, clean. The pool was a bonus. Many wineries nearby. We stayed for 3 nights and would recommend it to others.

A large group (17) of us stayed in the superior villa and could not have been more delighted with the accommodation. Every room was gorgeous and we loved that they all had en-suites. The host was very accommodating and easily contactable for any queries we had. We loved having the kitchen available and there was nice touches left by the host such as Lindt sweets in the fridge which we really appreciated. Waking in the morning and sitting out with a coffee and watching the kangaroos nearby really made the experience memorable too!

Would have been better if some groceries or other stores nearby, but the drive to Cessnock wasn't too bad... about 20 mins drive.

It's a beautiful property. Nice and quiet and perfect for relaxing. The 2 bedroom cottage is the best property. Everything was very clean and best quality and the best thing is that it's pet friendly. Overall, it was a good 2 days break for us.

Beautiful property, quiet and peaceful, in the country yet walkable to vineyards/restaurants etc. We stayed at the Villa, only two of us rattling around in a 5br house, lovely pool, well equipped kitchen, fantastic outdoor entertaining spaces, ideal for a family reunion or wedding. Responsive and affable owner.

The Guesthouse is faultless

Thistle Hill guesthouse is amazing. Wonderful accommodation in their beautiful guesthouse or main house which sleeps 12 people and has its own swimming pool. Jo & John who own and run the Guesthouse do a great job making sure everything you need is taken care of.

Mosquitoes - plenty of mosquitoes and in the room at night which kept us awake. Also the A/C has an auto off feature and you have to turn it back on every couple of hours - even at night - this is really annoying and should be re-thought. Not really easy walking distance to wineries unless you are an Olympic walking champ, all the wineries are spread out - but you could walk to maybe 3 or 4.

It was quiet, good rooms and comfortable etc Met on arrival and made to feel comfortable. The view was pretty good over the dam and there was a guest area around the pool. Location was good and easy drive to wineries.
